I'm just thinking that this whole flap over her pressuring Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan to fire a state trooper who happens to be in a nasty divorce with her sister is still hanging out there.

Monegan was fired, according to a fellow republican, Andrew Halcro, because Monegan refused to fire the cop.

This isn't old news, it's like from last month!

Palen denies the whole thing, of course.

Newsminer:

"The governor has said only, through a spokeswoman, that Monegan was released because she 'felt there needed to be a change in the direction in management at DPS and she decided to move forward.'"

http://newsminer.com/news/2008/jul/18/palin-denies-role-trooper-flap/

Uh huh.

Was there some pressing issue with the DPS before Monegan got the axe?

Did the McLame people just buy this explaination? Have they investigated it? WTF?

It just seems very strange to me.

Something stinks here and I hope it snaps back on them soon.

1. Oh, she did it alright, only
it'll be almost impossible to use because the former brother-in-law was a wife-beater and allegedly tasered his kids. Big risk of her getting more sympathy than anything else.

3. If that was true, the Public Commissioner would have had no problem firing him
But he refused to.

4. It's still an abuse of power.
If he did all those things, he should be in jail, but it should be his ex-wife that takes him to court, not the governor using her power to get him fired, and then firing Monegan for not doing what she told him to do, that's the part the I think will be hard to explain no matter who much of a jerk the ex-brother in law was, why fire Monegan?

2. Yep, pretty weird, isn't it?
I think that McCain is grasping at straws, and trying to pickup unhappy Hillary supporters, but I can't for the life of me figure out how he thinks it will work! This woman is pro-life, Hillary's supporters are not! Palen is a conservative all the way, and McCain thinks that Hillary's supporters are going to forget all these things and vote for her?

But the scandal about firing Monegan? How in the world could they pick her when this is hanging over her head???? I really think McCain wants to lose!

5. The legislature is just starting to investigate for Chrissake!
"How in the world could they pick her when this is hanging over her head????"

Maybe they're hoping the "liberal media" will give her a pass on this?

NPR mentioned it just once and then got on to calling up all the usual suspects: Ralph Reed, Juan Williams etc.
