Wexler Statement on Palin: "Today, John McCain proved he is a complete and utter hypocrite."
Edited on Fri Aug-29-08 02:41 PM by jefferson_dem
Here's the statement from Wexler, who represents 10 central and northern Broward communities:

"Today, John McCain proved he is a complete and utter hypocrite. This past week we saw the first test of judgment and leadership from America's presidential nominees. Barack Obama made the outstanding choice of Joe Biden. John McCain made a sad political choice by picking Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin.

"In doing so John McCain has failed both the test of leadership and judgment. John McCain has been unable to generate any genuine excitement with his tired campaign and his selection of Palin as his running mate is a desperate attempt to distract Americans from the fact he lacks any new ideas worthy of their excitement.

"John McCain's selection of Sarah Palin is clearly a political ploy aimed at the capturing votes of women who formerly supported Senator Hillary Clinton. But the fact is Sarah Palin is a far right, pro-life zealot who can not hold a candle to Hillary Clinton's lifelong fight to better the lives of women everywhere. Americans should be alarmed that the former mayor of a town of 9,000 people with zero foreign policy credentials could be a heartbeat away from assuming the role of Commander in Chief."

3. ha, I love this
"can not hold a candle to Hillary Clinton's lifelong fight to better the lives of women everywhere"

Has Hillary issued a statement yet? I would be offended if I were her...as Debbi wasserman schultz said today "I KNOW Hillary Clinton, and Sarah Palin is NO Hillary Clinton." I saw ex Clinton advisor Ann Lewis on tv earlier and she said that Palin had an "impressive" resume...um, no! I love that Debbi just didn't hold back, and neither did Wexler.

7. Hillary's probably still cooling off -- I know I would be
if I were she and had been ->.<- this close to earning a nomination and some beauty-queen bimbette outta nowhere got picked because she was the last one standing. The fact that Senator Clinton has held her tongue so far shows that she has more class in her little finger than the entire republic party can scrape together collectively.

Man-o-shevitz. Can you imagine the conversations en famille?

I guess Palin's resume is "impressive" for a Bible- and gun-toting poster girl. If that's the best the republic party can do then that says a lot for the state of wreckage within, dudnit. From what I've been reading over the last 20-ish hours, she's a nasty little creature; a Darth Cheney in a dress.

I'd say I hate to gloat... but I won't. They've gotten what they deserve.

9. Hillary will make a statement in time

I think it's a smart move for her to lay low right now. I am not the biggest Hillary fan out there, but she's sharp as hell.

She'll engage at the proper time.

15. hey
She made a statement yesterday since I posted that was very similar to the Obama statement- praising her nomination, but reiterating that McCain/Palin policies would still take the country in the wrong direction. I think that it may have been coordinated with the Obama campaign. Meanwhile, Debbie Wasserman Schultz has been making the media rounds and has been awesome in speaking out against this choice. And other people who have worked with Hillary or Bill, like Paul Begala and Dee Dee Myers, have written about how reckless the choice is, and how she is no comparison to Hillary. It will be interesting to see if Hillary chooses to say more about this in the future...this makes me miss stephanie Tubbs jones as well, bc I think that she would have a similar reaction to Debbi's.

8. "Anti-choice" is the term, NOT "pro-life"! Who isn't FOR life, FGS?! Don't use THEIR language!

10. I have been using the term "Pro-Fetus"
since the fetus is all they really care about. In truth, they really don't care about the fetus either, but it makes a good play when you are really wanting to control women and their reproductive rights.

Just notice that once the fetus takes its first breath, they no longer care what happens to it.

16. Even "pro-fetus" is a positive term. What? Are Democrats ANTI-fetus??

14. Anti choice is a good term but " A woman's right to choose " is more powerful, never use the"a" word
Edited on Sat Aug-30-08 08:10 AM by barack the house
though. The "a " word is a trigger word but framing the debate as a "woman's right to choose is more powerful>"

18. a town of 9,000 now?
The population number keeps fluctuating. Is it based on how many caribou have wandered in at any give time or something?

19. Just waiting for that debate moment from Biden
"I know Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton is a friend of mine. You're no Hillary Clinton."
I have a feeling that by the time the debates come around Hillary will have eviscerated Palin.
