Poll question: To Hell and Back: My afternoon at the John McCain HQ
Ok, so I was having lunch with a family friend and he "surprised" me with a trip to the John McCain Campaign HQ in Crystal City. Now, this family friend doesn't know I'm a Dem, and because I need a job, I went.

So, here's what I learned from this trip (besides the fact that I'm absolutely terrified of Republicans):

1) John McCain is a celebrity. And he loves it. All over the office there are pictures of him on every tv show. Hm, hypocrite??

2) This Sarah Palin thing is an obvious political ploy (duh). But, about a dozen men asked me how I felt about it, as if I should be impressed. I gave the "it's historic" response, but I really wanted to scream out "If she's so good, why didn't she run for the nomination??" Ha! What a joke! They seriously think they have this election wrapped up because of this VP choice. If people voted for Hillary simply because she's a woman, they may be swayed, but if even they voted on even one issue, this may drive them away. And, as I believe, women should be offended by this obvious ploy. But, the McCain people are so cocky, it's disgusting.

3) They are going to use Hurricane Gustav as a political ploy. Oh yes, they need this to look good for them, and they're going to milk it for all it's worth. Be prepared to see officials and delegates who are so "concerned" about their communities that they either don't show up to the convention or they leave early. They don't actually care about the people, they just care about making themselves look good.

4) Their ground game sucks. They are not prepared to compete in any western state but CO. They think of OH and PA as one. They are not prepared to compete across this nation.

5) "The Department of Evil Genius" is charged with coming up with commercials, not to play on air, but to be so outrageous that they are picked up by the news outlets and played for free. There is very little intent to produce serious commercials.

I realize that some of this is obvious and supposed to be going on, but to see it in action made me feel queezy.

So, on the way out, we got the "Veterans for McCain" T-shirt, and I need to know what to do with mine. Please vote below.

2. I think you should take a permanent marker and write on the shirt that
McCain has a lousy voting record in supporting the troops, and that most of the troops DO NOT SUPPORT John McSame. Then wear it proudly. ;)

4. Fascinating inside view.
How's it feel to be a "mole"? I would have been extremely queasy after that trip. But you lived to tell the tale.

I'd give the shirt to Goodwill or another non-profit...
