Hillary Clinton SLAMMED Palin while the media looked away
Edited on Fri Aug-29-08 08:34 PM by Martinucho
The bad thing about reading Drudge and other political websites whose sole purpose is to attract traffick and spread juicy gossip is the fact that they don't mind cherry-picking statements in order to mislead us about what politicians say, especially if said politician is Hillary Clinton.

Before being duped into believing that Clinton praised Palin, let's keep in mind that Clinton "slammed" Palin and McCain when it comes to her positions, by stating:

“We should all be proud of Governor Sarah Palin's historic nomination, and I congratulate her and Senator McCain," Clinton, the first woman to win a presidential primary, said in the statement. "While their policies would take America in the wrong direction, Governor Palin will add an important new voice to the debate.”

If you visit Drudge, you won't see the "While their policies would take America in the wrong direction". You will only see the mild praise.

Let's try to read articles, not just headlines. That's my advice. By the way, don't visit the Drudge Report at all. It will make you dumb.

2. It was a pretty weak slam.
I hope she was just being gracious and will come out swinging after the glow of the honeymoon is over.

BTW, welcome to DU! :hi:

5. Obama's response was weaker

He distanced himself from the attack his campaign made to Palin over her having no experience, and chose to issue a praise instead:

“We send our congratulations to Gov. Sarah Palin and her family on her designation as the Republican nominee for vice president," said the Democratic ticket in a joint statement. "It is yet another encouraging sign that old barriers are falling in our politics. While we obviously have differences over how best to lead this country forward, Gov. Palin is an admirable person and will add a compelling new voice to this campaign."

6. The criticism needs to come from a female surrogate
whether it's Clinton (preferably) or someone else. And especially if they're going to get into issues of womens' rights.

8. Clinton criticized her
To say that someone wants to lead the country in the wrong direction constitutes criticism.

9. I'm talking about real criticism

Not a 1 line throwaway. I'm not faulting Clinton for her statement. It's fine to give Palin a warm welcome. But we're going to have to start going after her very soon.

4. someone else needs to go after her
i agree totally but why is this Hillary's job? the woman slammed Hillary in an interview, and then tried to steal credit for breaking the glass ceiling. Hillary's statement was a SLAM, but anymore and she's be accused of being jealous and making the glass ceiling about her and not women.

someone else needs to go after this creep for this phony ploy. She is not breaking any glass ceiling, We've had misogynistic policies in place for centuries.

10. You're right... it doesn't have to be Hillary.
It could be Pelosi or Boxer. It could be Sebelius.

But we need some Democratic women, especially some who are championing Obama, to call it for what it is. And they need to be women with standing in the party.

I for one would like to see Lt. General Kennedy take her on. That would be TRULY ugly. "Not fit to command; not fit to lead."
