Has the Mcain camp said exactly WHEN McCain made his VP decision?
As I recall, rumour was that he was supposed to announce it around the time of Obama's acceptance speech.

Then some pundit or McCain spokesman said last night (on MSNBC or CNN) something to the effect that McCain wanted to be "classy" and wait until the next day.

My hunch at the time was that Obama's speech may have made McCain reconsider a previous decision to select someone else.

Just guessing, but I'm still curious as to WHEN Palin was actually chosen.

1. Earlier in the evening there were reports that it had been leaked
and was Mittens. I wouldn't count out a snap-decision made in a moment of panic, god help us if he ever takes a 3 am phone call in an Ambien stupor

3. That is exactly the timeline I'm wondering about. I thought they said
he had already made a choice by Wednesday night when he only met with her Thursday. So maybe she was a last minute substitute.

4. Rove chose her. McCain was notified.

Be it Rove, McCain's vast lobby, Cheney, who knows. What matters is that McCain is no longer making his own decisions. He couldn't even get his buddy Pawlenty or Leibs on his ticket. He's managed completely now. Very weak for a maverick. This truly is Bush's 3rd term. The irresponsible, cynical, and contemptuous pick of Palin as VP shows this more clearly than anything so far.
