Sarah Palin is yet another right-wing cartoon
The right-wing produces more of these cretins than China makes lead toys. Like those toys, both are toxic, abundant, and bad for the American economy.

I await the punditocracy and biased wire 'reporters' to anoint her soon as the 'All-American apple pie mom'. CNN got the ball rolling by promoting her bogus 'hockey mom' line of shit. It's not that far of a trip from "is she qualified?" to "she's an awesome, bold choice!"

She's a dangerous tool of the far right. I would like to think MOST people see this for what it is: more opportunistic and condescending pandering from the doddering old diaperdumper that is John McCain.

1. Funny you should post this.
I was thinking earlier that this country is being run by a bunch of cartoon characters. No substance, and two-dimensional.

5. They are living caricatures
They are breathing stereotypes. Palin is straight from a right-wing casting call - gun-fondler, fetus-fetishist, god-grubber, oil beneficiary, greedmonger, and smarmy to the hilt.

I was encouraged that the women I work who supported Hillary are firmly behind Obama (loved his speech), and are APPALLED by Palin - mainly because of the transparent pandering by McCain, which is even a bigger concern than Palin's politics. But they know Hillary was much more aligned with their views as it was. And I work in a very conservative area, unfortunately. I did not seek the opinions of my cartoonish colleagues.

7. Government by publicity stunt.....ever since Reagan, brought to its apotheosis
over the last two terms.

it's that simple

''Yet there's really no finite supply of publicity stunts. In fact, the art of governing has become the art of producing publicity stunts. And a really good policy maker is a guy who can come up with an engine for producing a long chain of publicity stunts that seem to follow logically from one to the next, based on some kind of principle or other. Like "family values" or "the strong, independent American." Or "Jesus is Lord." Or "poor people just don't have what it takes." Or "War on Terrorism." ''

2. Agreed. Out of the same cloth as Michelle Bachman and Mean Jean Schmidt.
And Schaffly. And Liddy Dole. And Susie Molinari.

12. They all give me the same queasy feeling
In one week, the spin will do a 180 on her. She will be anointed as "ready to lead!"

I hope I am wrong, but my gut feels very uneasy about the way the media manufactures heroes out of failures (no need to say why they do this). We have seen enough evidence of this since they started anointing Bush with "could he be the next president?" back in 1998. They were so HOPEFUL in the way they gushed over him. I am afraid we are seeing it again.

Nothing would make me happier to be wrong about this. Someone tell my gut to shut up, please.

6. True enough, lol
I just can't think of a better word to describe their (as an astute poster above said) two-dimensionality, and I might add, exaggerated unreality.

They'll be funnier when we win this thing.
