I don't care if she's a woman or a man or a dog.....she makes ME look ready for the presidency---McCain has made the most stupid choice possible.

16. i remember dan quayle, and she is no dan quayle
quayle had a law degree, two terms in congress, and was in his second term as senator when he was picked to be vice-president.

was was never anywhere near as dim as his image, though he gave the press plenty of gaffes to go along with that image. in any event, he was quite accomplished and experienced compared to palin.

i'm no fan of quayle, but palin compared poorly to him, which is saying something indeed.

3. Agreed.
It's not because she's a woman. It's because she's a ridiculous choice. Quayle + Ted Nugent = Palin.

4. Some Democrats would rather lose an election than offend anyone
There are valuable roles in a campaign for things such as mockery, derision, disgust and even aggression. The fact that Democrats don't understand how to use those emotions goes a long way toward explaining how we've lost the last 7 out of 10 elections.

5. I am a woman... Palin is a ridiculous choice...
and that has nothing to do with gender. It is insulting that the REPUKES equate her to any of a number of totally qualified women candidates (on either side of the political spectrum) that could have been chosen. To me it is like the Clarence Thomas choice. He, too was extremely unqualified, though less technically so, certainly, than Palin. But, he was willing and able to be exploited as their "token." This too, is what Palin's role would be. Disgusting....

I couldn't be where I am today without people like Hillary Clinton. I supported Obama in the primaries, but that doesn't mean I didn't respect what Hillary Clinton accomplished both in the primaries and through her life. Palin is indeed a token and it amazes me (though it shouldn't) the Republicans think women will fall for this.

6. The only difference between Palin and Quayle is that one of them has ovaries...
..and the other doesn't.

I'll let you figure out which is which.

8. Perhaps everyone more qualified refused?
That'd be millions and millions of people in various walks of life. Where did they find the time to call all of them? (Perhaps it was outsourced to a call center in India?)

9. McCain supposedly called her on the cell phone while she was attending the Alaska State Fair
It was the only time he spoke to her, while the lady was enjoying the state fair.

That's according to Governor Tim Kaine on Bill Maher's show.

11. As a woman, let me just say
she's the political antithesis to a world of things I value and care about. Disastrous choice. I don't want to see such a person anywhere NEAR the White House. No McCAIN. No Palin. NO WAY!

by selecting this supremely unqualified bushie-type fundie hack as though she were somehow EQUIVALENT to Hillary.

20. Bingo.
To claim that critiques of her qualifications are "anti-female" and "sexist" would be the same as claiming that critiques of Shrub's qualifications are "anti-male" and "sexist."

If anything, her selection is an insult to qualified human beings of both genders and women in general. It makes a mockery of everyone's efforts to attain equity for women.

O haven't read every OP, much less every post on DU tonight. But I think that it is a stretch to say that there is a lot od sexist comments being made. I haven't seen any. I have seen people pointing out that she is a terrible choice.
