Instead of Pointing out Palin's weaknesses...
Edited on Fri Aug-29-08 09:50 PM by nothingtoofear
Why don't we start attacking her perceived strengths?

Come on people. This is how they're going to get us. If we spend our time just pointing out the bad, the good may still be enough to push them over with voters. We need to take a look at both sides of the story.

I will start...

She touts her knowledge of "energy" and how Alaska will play a big role in the future of American energy independance.

HOWEVER: Her husband was employed by BP

On her husband's Wikipedia page an entire section about his public life has been erased... (Edited with "..." for size)

"One of his advocacy causes has been to encourage young Alaskans to consider jobs in the oil and gas industry. “…For those who don’t have the financial background to go to college, just being a product of that on-the-job-training is really important” Mr. Palin has stated... A different advocacy is to advise the Governor on workforce development issues for a 4.5 billion cubic feet per day natural gas pipeline which is planned to be capable of transporting 4.5 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day..." (Todd) Palin’s advocacy dovetails neatly with his wife’s No. 1 priority: forging a construction contract with private companies to transport natural gas from the North Slope to the Lower 48....'He will be passing information on to me and participating in getting workforce development programs up and running in Alaska,' Sarah Palin said"... which is in the context of the U.S. currently importing 1.4 billion cubic feet per day.... Also see http://www.adn.com/money/industries/oil/pipeline/story/420067.html photograph caption of Governor and Mr. Palin conferring during a pipeline meeting...."

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Todd_Palin&diff=next&oldid=235085524

LEAVING ONLY:

"As First Gentleman, Palin has encouraged young Alaskans who can't afford college to consider jobs in the oil and gas industry as an effective training ground and has advised the Governor on workforce development issues for the natural gas pipeline she supports. <4>

Palin is a community volunteer working in youth sports, coaching hockey and basketball.<5>"

Taking from that excerpt that was deleted we here of Mr. Palin in direct communication with Gov. Palin over gas pipelines...

"Speaking on the opening day of a three-day public forum in Anchorage, the governor and her team urged state lawmakers to give the Canadian energy company a state license and $500 million in seed money."

http://www.adn.com/money/industries/oil/pipeline/story/420067.html

Conflict of interest? I think so. What right does she have to tout energy policy when she is clearly and has clearly had ties to BP and big oil? None. Period.

1. Not enough knowledge

Pepper this person with all the questions you have about energy. Press her on the drill to pump cycle. And remind her "drill to pump" has nothing to do with long Alaskan nights. Dang! Did I say that out loud?

2. Why bother attacking her at all
When we got John Bomb Bomb McCain right there in our sites.

Palin is just not a very high value target and our energy may be better spent
getting Obama's message out there.

3. Correction: her husband is employed by a "foreign oil company"
who was apparently allowed to sit in on meetings as a shadow governor, as the "head of Sarah Palin's household", attending countless times, where he had no legal standing to do so, probably against all kinds of laws for him to be in attendance, and when doing so posed a definitely conflict of interest to the interests of the people of the State of Alaska, and as a conflict of interest to other interested parties (other domestic energy companies) and other federal and state concerns.

4. Wikipedia says he stepped down in 2007 citing a conflict of interest with his wife...
I'll need a better source.

11. But she's been the gov for 18-20 months which puts us to 2006
- could be before he stepped down - and I've read articles today that I recall as saying that her husband was always in her office and attending meetings with her. And apparently he was the one making a lot of the calls to that Chief who wound up being fired.

13. And it seems that Sarah Palin has been editing her own Wiki
entry (or it's highly suspect) and this is a big no-no. Is that what you'll be refering to if you find your other link?

her Wiki page has had a lot of favorable additions added by a new user since yesterday... diary up on the Big Orange.

5. Many of the edits of Todd Palins Wiki page were made by a user who was banned earlier today...
Edited on Fri Aug-29-08 10:04 PM by nothingtoofear
Radiomango made numerous changes today to his page and then was apparently banned from Wikipedia "indefinitely" for being a "sock puppet of "OprahwasonTV" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Radiomango) who was also banned indefinitely for being the sock puppet of "Dereks1x" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Oprahwasontv) who was banned indefinitely from editing wikipedia for doing things such as "His actions have gone far out side of finding sources. Doing anything to make sure his POV is heard, cannot be part of Wikipedia.--Dacium 03:49, 3 April 2007 (UTC)" AND "Calculated deception such as this has no place here." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Community_sanction_noticeboard/Archive6#Dereks1x_proposed_community_ban)

I hope that all makes sense.

6. Because her perceived strengths are her negatives.
What the Repukes perceive as her strengths are what we consider disgusting. She's rabidly anti-choice, anti-science, anti-wildlife, anti-environment, pro-oil, etc.

To try to attack her "strengths" would be like trying to explain to flies that shit stinks.

7. We need to attack what the conservative base would see as perceived strengths
Edited on Fri Aug-29-08 10:06 PM by nothingtoofear
But we also have to attack (if not moreso) strengths that may be perceived by an independent voter.

(FYI, I don't buy the BS about HRC voters turning to her.)

Plus, energy is one issue that she has already said that she brings to the table. If we can remove it, it'll be just another leg she doesn't have to stand on.

8. She's been held up for her ethics- and that's the EASIEST thing to go after
The corporate media loves a juicy scandal- and it so happens she's in one.

Not to mention some other cases financial and managerial incompetency.

15. I fail to see how a person that rejects science can be an expert
on energy. She is a creationist. She therefore rejects the last 150 years of science progress. How can someone that fails to understand the importance of teaching the scientific process in school get us to the next generation of energy sources. They can't. If Palin was in charge of our education process we would be make in the pre-industrial age.
