McSame "choosing" Palin turned out to be a smart move—for now! |
|
The conversation, right now, is being framed by the Repugs and in this conversation they have now made this race about Obama v. Palin. We all know it should be Obama v. McSame and Biden v. Palin but then they would have to talk about how Obama blew McSame out of the water on Thursday.
To top it off it seems the surrogates haven't caught on that this is the game. IMO, this is the big Rovian plan.
Granted, it's smart to point out that the former beauty pageant runner up (always a bridesmaid, never a bride it seems) is not a suitable choice should something happen to Grandpa Munster but as soon as they point this out, they should then turn the conversation back to McSame and when the talking heads try to compare Palin to Obama, just keep hitting McSame.

One thing that I've can give the repugs is they know how to frame a conversation (unfortunately most of that conversation is based on falsehoods) and they have often killed us on this.

3. It's a totally short term, control the media coverage, get it off Obama's speech, move. |
|
I've run into a few Republicans who recognize it as a desperation flail, and a puzzling, not very credible, pick.

4. It's shock value only, stealing the focus from the Dems' highly successful . . . |

Convention. Palin's shiny surface is already beginning to tarnish. In two weeks she'll be a wreck. McCain has just shot his foot off.

6. Can he still pick someone else? |

I don't really understand how the whole VP thing works. Is the primary candidate able to fire his VP pick and choose someone else before the election, or is it pretty much official once it goes public?

7. Yes he could -- the VP is formally nominated and selected at the convention . . . |
|
But the political cost of reversing now would be immense.
