Edited on Fri Aug-29-08 10:10 PM by Quixote1818
1. She is under investigation by the state of Alaska
2. Her stupid remark about not knowing what the VP does
3. She left the town of Wasilla's finances 'in tatters' due to poor decision making
4. McCain only met with her once???
5. Said Hillary's "Whining" Turned Her Off...

Please feel free to add to the list.

This could blow up in their faces. I get the feeling last night caused them to just say "Fuck it, go with Palen, it's a long shot but it's all we have."

4. She's a governor
Medical records can be fabricated to meet necessary criteria to qualify for a higher position.

(Alaska is hardly known as a place filled with people of integrity.)

5. I think this was Rove's decision -- I don't think for one second McPOW made this call
If the Dem convention had been filled with in-fighting of Hillary v. Obama backers, if Obama's speech had been flat, had there not been 84,000 people at the stadium last night, THEN Mittens probably would have gotten the nod.

But when Rove saw the factions coming together, HUGE crowd of Americans, fantastic speech by Obama, then it was time to pull Palin out.

Better than anyone, Rove knows they CANNOT win on the economy or the war. They MUST have a cultural issue. Gay marriage worked in 2004; now it will be abortion (again). The only way McPOW wins is by Rove employing the divide and conquor strategy. That's what we're up against people.

Her staff didn't know she was under consideration
Those are the first people you talk to. How's things at the office? Any disgruntled employees who've been fired recently?

They didn't vet her at all...

6. Troopergate *had* to have been investigated . . .
I guess they decided it'd just go away. Not gonna happen, IMO.

We all know who they're pandering to: the radical Christian right. And they have this fantasy that they can get disaffected Hillary supporters. Yeah, right.

Really.Dumb.Choice.

9. I just heard Andrea Mitchell say...
...that John McCain has NO personal relationship with Palin. He doesn't know her.
He's met her once, before asking her to be his veep.

We're in the middle of two wars, in the middle of economic collapse, with major energy issues
to solve and our national security a major issue. ...And John McCain just nominated someone
that he doesn't know well--to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency knowing that he is an
old man who has twice had Cancer.

Ladies and gentlemen...This is the dumbest thing any politician has done in my lifetime.

This is not cute, or exciting, or amusing...or special. It's absolutely horrible.

do you???

This is worse than Harriet because it is a veep pick.

Clearly, the wrong pick.

17. That's because he knows the charade will be over in 60-some days
After election day, they will most likely not see each other again after their Tuesday night concession speech. No real reason to get to know her.

10. This is sounding more and more like a late-night desperation move
Yeah, they vetted her. Of course they did.

They're the CHAMPS of oppo research, garbage sniffing and blackmail. It's what they do.

But compared to the odious choices they COULD have made, they chose this route.

Slim pickings and desperation.

12. On the other hand...

...she is very popular in Alaska, 80% approval rating. I think we all know how Alaska is the real pulse of the nation.

:eyes:

I agree with you though - it's just bizarre, and I think they're counting on women voting Republican because she's on the ticket. This is the best they could do. Can you believe it? KKKarl Rove finally has no clothes!

14. I think she's suppose to appeal to the base
She's right of most Americans for sure. Her job is to talk plain speak to the base just like Bush did. Yeah she won't appeal to anyone else but their gambling they can win with just the base this year... I guess.

22. not true - approval rating has fallen considerably, according to an Alaskan who posted here earlier.
down to mid-60s, I think. SEVERAL scandals she's involved in, as governor AND back in her days as mayor. Approval dropping as more of this comes to light.
typical Repug scumbag.

24. i've heard Ambien will do that to you
IMHO it was a spur-of-the-moment, desperation move. In the announcement clip today, McCain seemed to be staring at her with a "Who is this woman and what is she doing here?" expression.

I think it's a great example of his decision processes. I'm scared.

25. That's exactly the sense I get too
He talked to her twice?! They talked on the phone on Sunday?

Seriously? What was the whole elaborate ritual of interviewing Romney, Pawlenty and Portman?

I never thought I'd think Mitt Romney would be an inspired choice, but Palin sure makes him seem like one.

27. Question: Will Republicans even care?
I mean, if Republicans didn't care that Dick Cheney's company was doing business with Iraq during the same time he was advocating to invade Iraq, are they going to care about this?
