Sorry if this has already been discussed -- Alas I cannot use the search funtion...
So why would Republicans want to hold their convention in New York? Stupidity? To boost NY economy? To get a lot of protestors in one place and hurt them?

7. When bush's* approval rating was high |
|
they thought they would have all of America eating out of the palm of their hand. They planned the convention to exploit 9/11 and they had it in New York because they thought they could swing New York to vote for bush* for resident. By the time the Iraq war they lead us into turned to crap, and more and more of bush's* credibility came into question it was too late to cancel. I would guarandamntee that it wouldn't have been held there if they knew things were going to turn out like this.

10. At one point, there was talk of |
|
* delivering his acceptance speech at Ground Zero. That didn't exactly go down very well with the NYC residents though, so they ditched that idea pretty quickly. It was a choice to exploit 9/11 for political gain, as this "president" has done since that awful day. Same ole' same ole.

9. To further milk the blood of 3,000 dead people |
|
Sorry but it has to be said in a manner such as that.
They have been milking the blood of our fellow citizens and people from ,what, 100 nations for the outrageous such as tax breaks and loosening of evironmental rules as well as an unneeded illegal war.
When they announced this many of us here at DU and elsewhere knew what was really going to happen. Once again W would not be hailed as a returning hero but cower away out the back door afraid of the very people directly affected by 9/11.

12. TEXAS NOW HATES BUSH-CONVENTION WAS TO BE IN HOUSTON |
|
Houston spent 1/2 billion to build the infrastructure to host the RNC 04 convention, and then Bush pulls the NYC stunt for the convention.
Texas money bankrolls the pimps (Bush-Cheney), then they shove their foot up everyones rears, is what we are hearing from many big money Bush backers in Texas.
