(as far as I know)

She has extreme views on
Birth Control
Abortion
Evolution
Science
(and surely)
The Separation of Church and State.

Being GOP 'Values' Politician means
Believing; or
Tribal Identification; or
Having a core constituency;
and for some, all of the above.

Of all the lines of attack here, I believe calling her hypocrisy is the worst. Fundamentalists and the GOP can deal with hypocrites. They have to. It does not challenge either their beliefs, or the falsehood that their values prescriptions can thrive in mainstream USA.

I believe it would be better for the Democrats to challenge her political position, rather than try to destroy her personal integrity. Not because it would not be effective, or even ethical, but because 'the politics of personal destruction' will not deliver the stinging rebuke that the Evangelical Year Zero wing deserves. The autopsy will show that Palin's hard right views were poison, if she makes it to polling day.

My 3c. The United States is not Kansas.

Edit: damn, my mind is packing up.

1. Can anyone from Kansas confirm that the fundy takeover is backfiring?
Last I heard, Kansas City's moderate Republicans were PISSED.

4. that's so creepy - I can't believe that the country as a whole would want
someone like that in a position to possibly be President, let alone her lack of pretty much any type of experience...

I'm just now getting caught up on Palin, but if they wanted someone to appeal to the mega-church crowd, they couldn't have made a better choice. "Mainstream USA" should be horrified once it gets a better understanding of her politics.

And as far as Republican women, Cindy stands by demurely with her hands folded across her St. John suits (I'm sure it's an act). Pickles is very Stepford (and probably medicated). Palin, however, is an entirely different breed.

And whaddaya know... she was Glenn Beck's guest this evening singing the praises of drilling in ANWR. That didn't take long.

6. Leave the Personal Stuff Alone. . .
Edited on Fri Aug-29-08 11:10 PM by brensgrrl
Some Idiots in the Democratic Party are even bashing her children now, as if CHILD ABUSE is a
Party Platform and clever strategy.

We will LOSE if we don't stick to the issues. If idiots in our own party give Palin the
"Hillary" treatment, we are guaranteed to lose. The anger of Mothers all over the nation
will rise and wipe us out.

I AM ANGRY myself, because some moron said that Palin's daughter's "enlarged" abdomen was some
kind of indication of unwed pregnancy. My daughter suffers from the very same condition, monthly
water weight gain, and SHE is NOT pregnant. In fact, she is under the care of TWO physicians!

When I heard this garbage, my "hair caught on fire." Like Palin, I am a MOM, after all.
All I could imagine was some jackass fools accusing MY child of unwed pregnancy and I wanted
to kill the fools. I would destroy any idiot that
dared to trash and denigrate my daughter.

Calling young girls whores is not the plan of the true Democratic Party, even if the girl
so involved has parents of the opposition.

Leave the children ALONE! Stick strictly to the issues. There are plenty of issues to discuss.

LEAVE THE CHILDREN ALONE!!!

This is not a schoolyard playground! "Mean Girls" tactics will backfire!! High School
antics WILL BACKFIRE.

If you Obama followers will not stop now, you will DESTROY everything. You've already
alienated 10 million of Hillary's supporters. You keep on mobbing and trashing people
at the peril of the Obama Presidency. Keep jumping on children and the women of America
will jump on YOU!

ACT AS IF YOU ARE CIVIL AND CIVILIZED EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE!!!!

:grr:

Palin's policies have to be rejected and seen to be rejected. I agree with you on leaving her kids out of it.

11. Agreed,
But the pregnancy thing was a controversy in Alaska...Discussed by Alaskans...

I think they'll get away with a lot of lies about her record since most people don't pay attention to anything going on in Alaska and we had better get the real info...She was for the bridge, so she lied about that just this morning, just gave in on it when she realized Stevens was going to have trouble with it, but when I look at the Alaskan newspapers and see the comment sections I really don't see the record that McCain's team is putting out there...and yes she had a high approval percentage rate at first, but the people are realizing she lied to them while running for Governor, so it's really falling...She's just another Republican, lie and promise what the people want then do the opposite...

And she is an extreme fundie who should be exposed...

12. What are you talking about? I'm a lesbian and a mom.
I'll put my bona fides up against yours anyday. How is it "child abuse" to ask questions about the judgement of the person who could become president? Everyone on this board ripped John Edwards when his philandering and poor judgement was revealed.

Your suggestion that we should somehow ignore questions about the Republican VP nominee just because she's a woman and a mother is very sexist. You are the one being sexist.

And stop yelling. It's rude.
