Remember how the pundits claimed Bush beat Gore in their first debate 'cause Gore seemed "mean" and sighed too much? I don't even want to think about how much lower they're going to set the bar for Palin in a Biden-Palin debate...

6. The press will flay Biden when he "picks on her" by revealing her idiocy |
|
and incompetence. They'll do a job on him like they did on Gore when he trounced Shrub in 2000. All of a sudden Al's sigh of exasperation became the story.
At leat that's the fear I've been living with since I heard about her nomination.

35. Sadly, you're probably right, but the ONLY thing that should be off the table |
|
are attacks that are sexist in nature. Everything else is and should be fair game. It is an insult to the women who ARE competent to hold the office of VP to treat her otherwise.

17. And he will shred her, as Bentsen shredded Dan Quayle, and Gore shredded Bush. |
|
Our candidates always win the debate, and the media always convinces voters that the Republican really won it because our candidate sighed, or knew too much, or had bad make-up, or came across as somehow superior. Hell, Reagan "beat" Carter only because he didn't swallow his own tongue and then step from the stage saying "I should have never been born, why would anyone vote for me over that man?" Even if he had, the media would have reported that he had won.
Biden can school her up and down the stage for two hours on issues, experience, Iraq, and everything else, and all the media will report is one pseudo-righteously indignant comment Palin made accusing (falsely) Biden of condescending towards women.
It's not Palin that Biden has to beat in a debate. It's the media.

26. Well, you can be pessimistic if you want, I guess. |
|
I choose to be optimistic, but I'm not going to base our chances over some silly giddy glee that our guys are just so superior to theirs that the voters can't help but see it. The voters rarely see it. We have to win the old-fashioned way, by earning votes rather than gloating about our own superiority.
Some people need to learn the difference between sobriety and pessimism, or between optimism and delusion. We can win, we should win, but we won't win by expecting the media to play fair.

It's the #1 most effective way of discouraging liberals. They found that out long ago.
Whenever I see one, I just agree with it because arguing points in such cases is useless.

|
Edited on Sat Aug-30-08 09:47 AM by Jennicut
She would be very out of her element and I doubt she could have any influence to shape foreign policy. Joe just has to take her down on the facts and if she can't handle it then she needs to go back to suing about Polar Bears being on the endangered list.
