Palin: Is this really about 2012 and Beyond
Sorry to add more to the palin madness but I've been bashing my head trying to figure out the rationale for this pick (beside the more apparent qualities of course, play for certain bases including subsets of women) I wanted to offer up one more theory IMO Rove/people who influenced this pick, are looking ahead to 2012 already. I"ve heard rumors for months that McCain was thinking about running for only one term, and it being trumpted as a "self-less" act, his campaign adviser was quoted a couple of weeks ago that McCain would make a very interesting pledge at the convention' as well, and I think it could be in the GOP's interest to stear him in that direction.

Perhaps they believe (like many) that McCain may not have the physical or perhaps mental acuity to be serving while eighty (assuming he somehow won reelection), so he's encouraged to make a "self-less" gesture to run for only one term. Palin can be framed as having a dearth of foreign relations experience now, but if they can just use McCain to carry her up, and be his apprentice (With Lieberman aka Darth Sidious as another mentor), then after the first term mccain'll be replaced him as a younger, more "conservative" version of McCain, with foreign experience knowledge, in the gop's minds. I'm not saying this will work, this is just my inclination after hearing that she'll learn for '4 years at the foot of the master', which suggested to me that after that four years she'd be "ready to be a a formidable match up for Hillary if she runs in 2012, or anyone else. On the other hand this just could be "Star Wars" influenced wishful thinking, lol.

1. Why 2012 - God I hate that number?
McCain can have an illness arranged for him at any time. Palin then runs as the incumben.
