8. from this
http://www.adn.com/626/story/382864.html

And the daughter was supposedly out of school for months due to mono. Also Palin didn't announce the pregnancy until month 7 and never really showed, they say. I don't know about any of that, but I find the whole flying thing extremely hard to believe.

"Palin was in Texas last week for an energy conference of the National Governors Association when she experienced signs of early labor. She wasn't due for another month.

Early Thursday -- she thinks it was around 4 a.m. Texas time -- she consulted with her doctor, family physician Cathy Baldwin-Johnson, who is based in the Valley and has delivered lots of babies, including Piper, Palin's 7-year-old.

Palin said she felt fine but had leaked amniotic fluid and also felt some contractions that seemed different from the false labor she had been having for months.

"I said I am going to stay for the day. I have a speech I was determined to give," Palin said. She gave the luncheon keynote address for the energy conference.

Palin kept in close contact with Baldwin-Johnson. The contractions slowed to one or two an hour, "which is not active labor," the doctor said.

"Things were already settling down when she talked to me," Baldwin-Johnson said. Palin did not ask for a medical OK to fly, the doctor said.

"I don't think it was unreasonable for her to continue to travel back," Baldwin-Johnson said.

So the Palins flew on Alaska Airlines from Dallas to Anchorage, stopping in Seattle and checking with the doctor along the way."

9. according to that link
the hospital and the doctor both would have to be in on the conspiracy.

There are nurses and doctors that knew she was there, right?

And this is the Governor of the state?

"They landed in Anchorage around 10:30 p.m. Thursday and an hour later were at the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Wasilla.

Baldwin-Johnson said she had to induce labor, and the baby didn't come until 6:30 a.m. Friday. "

11. It was on the front page of the newspaper
the doctors and nurses at the hospital would know if she had been there or not. It would have to be a large conspiracy involving many medical personnel. And all of them would have to remain quiet about it.

15. I have doctors in my family
it would be impossible to get an entire hospital to lie. It's just like any other workplace. People talk.

12. It's a rumor that's been floating around Alaska, ten someone mentioned it on Thom Hartmann's...
show today. (though nobody knows who)

People started to look into it and found that bizarre birth story about flying back to Alaska while potentially in labor with a premature, high-risk, special needs child. She didn't announce the pregnancy until she was 7 mos., the daughter was pulled from school, and so on...

And then the speculation started to fly.

It's here, it's on Kos, The Moderate Voice has picked it up, etc.

Beyond strange.

14. what makes it almost entirely unbelievable imho
is that the doctor is quoted on the front page of the newspaper that she had to induce pregnancy. And they list the hospital. Which means, of course, that everyone in the hospital would have to be in on the conspiracy. Even in Alaska, when a governor has a baby, it's front page news.

17. Not necessarily....
Due to her profile, I'm sure she would have been off-limits to everyone but her doctor and *maybe* a nurse. And having witnessed the birth, the completion of the birth certificate is up to them.

I agree that it's unlikely, and I'm actually more interested in getting a better answer for why she thought it would be a good idea to get on that flight, rather than have the baby in TX. That was reckless and I don't want a reckless person as my VP when the President is likely to keel over at any time.

Basically, this just shows how poorly vetted she was. The amount of easily accessible crap on her that emerged today (not just on this issue) attests to that.

18. No. Given that this was a high risk pregnancy, she would have been surrounded by medical people...
OBG, anesthesiologist (unless she just bites down on a bullet when she has a baby), neonatologist waiting for the kid, nurses, techs et al. The MD would have been violating state and federal law (the latter I think a felony) if he willingly signed a false birth certificate application. I don't see that happening. Home delivery, by one person? Maybe. Not in a hospital.

16. A pic from February, & some March web pages about her pregnancy.
When there wasn't any word about her daughter looking pregnant.

This progressive blogger's page has a pic of Sarah Palin from February -- taken before she announced she was pregnant -- and she was wearing baggy clothes and a scarf:

http://progressivealaska.blogspot.com/2008/03/dillons-february-26-palin-pic.html

This blog post is about her pregnancy

http://progressivealaska.blogspot.com/2008/03/governor-delivers-to-deliver-another.html

and has links to the ADN blog and the initial pages of comments about her pregnancy, back in March.

Pages starting at

http://community.adn.com/adn/node/118874#new

Five pages with comments there, lots of attacks on her because of the pregnancy, from suggesting she shouldn't have become pregnant while governor to suggesting she got pregnant to help her approval rating.

No hint that anyone then believed this was a fake pregnancy so she could pretend her daughter's baby was her own.

And there was this comment on March 5, on this page:

http://community.adn.com/adn/node/118874?page=3

sartorial choices

I noticed she was wearing long scarves with a dark suit in every single picture of late. Every picture. I just thought it was an odd, but curious, fashion choice.

19. What's more Rove?
To actually lack the discpipline in vetting this?
Or... to know full well it is out there hoping the "just as Democrats and the liberal media do" they will run with it. Attack the poor child. Attack a woman based on her reproduction, etc.....

She very well may be making a sacrifice feeling like she will enjoy the noteriety or gossip if it is not true.

Be careful of stories like this.

When things look too easy, they probably are for a reason.
