I know she's anti-polar bear, but beyond encouraging the extinction of these precious animals, what has she done?

....have some meetings in the city of Anchorage instead of Juneau. Juneau is way the hell away from the rest of "civilization" in Alaska. It was an area that was first settled, but never grew or developed. I think you have to get there by airplane or boat or something.

So anyway, talking to some relatives that live in the area, this is what they said. In general, I got the impression that she is making the state government seem more open to people.

What DUers don't know, perhaps, is that this area of Alaska she was mayor of -- Wasilla - is a strange, very rough place. It's on the outskirts of Anchorage, about an hour away. There's a LOT of drinking that goes on, and drugs and just kind of oddness around. I saw what looked like some kind of commune outside the town. They don't think much of the lower 48 either.

That's my impression after being there for 2 weeks recently.

7. Pay cuts, political transparency/ethics, reduction in pork.
So says wikipedia.

However, they *also* note that she *increased* the budget to its largest size ever, while claiming fiscal accountability.

Sound familiar?
