Omaha World Herald - Social conservatives cheer choice of Palin
http://www.omaha.com/index.php?u_page=2835&u_sid=10419628

<<The president of the Iowa Christian Alliance felt no such disappointment. In fact, Steve Scheffler's reaction was quite the opposite.

"I'm like a kid in a candy store," said Scheffler, of West Des Moines.

Scheffler said he spent the last few months researching McCain's potential vice presidential candidates, and had already decided Palin was the way to go.

Her "pro-life, pro-family" stance and support of gun owners' rights will make her popular with conservatives, especially those who didn't think McCain was conservative enough, Scheffler said.

"McCain was beginning to gain traction with conservatives, but this is the absolute spark plug that will spread like wildfire," he said. "It's going to make people who were somewhat complacent do something about it.">>

1. What crap. This is why I sometimes hate living in Nebraska. Although
I suspect that these folks, deep down, see this pick for what it is, and are just waiting for President Obama to become official. I wonder if they'll ask Hagel what he thinks...

2. I can't believe I'm saying this
But Hagel would have been a better choice than Palin, and I disagree with him about 90% of the time.

4. Hagel is better qualified to be President, IMO, than McCrazy--
and has a rational viewpoint in certain areas, for a GOPer, so I'd be at least comforted by that if they won. Hell, I'd take Olympia Snowe, or KBH, or Charlie Crist, or Arnie Schwarzenegger--all would make me sleep better at night, if McLoon won. None of them are inexperienced religion-wacky valley-girls who are confused by the role of VP and have no thoughts on Iraq. God help us.

3. Social conservatives are some ignorant fucks. They don't care
about shit but their few little divisive issue. They don't care about high cost of college tuition, jobs being outsourced, people losing their homes, health care, gas prices nothing. As longs as you promise them some judges that will ban abortion or tell them you hate gays they will line up vote for you. these stupid fucks would vote for the taliban before they vote for a democrat. I could never be friends with those people, I cant relate to them in anyway it's like they are a different species.

7. Hobbies and ideology and religion are all that matter to these people.
Not resume, not policy, not intellectual capacity, not temperament, not judgment, not results--just labels and image and Jaysus.

12. Oh i dont know about that
if you watched the convention last night they paraded a bunch of em out that didn't give a shit about any of that till they lost their job or some other tragedy hit them then all of a sudden they are seeing the value of the Dems.

Most of em are just too stupid to internalize it until it actually affects them personally then they wake up like cold water was thrown on em.

11. Then you enviscerate it (or "field dress" in hunters parlance)
...and then you have your butcher cut it into chops or roasts, or make pemmican out of it, or skip the butcher and just throw it on your grill or in your oven. Then, display its head or feathers on a wall..

10. If we write this lady off as Barbie, we will have our asses handed to us
I really don't think most people understand the dynamics here. We shouldn't be fearful; Obama gave an incredible DNC speech and won a lot of people over. He has a smart team, and has impressed people because he doesn't back down from a fight. However, we can't just plan to coast to the White House. Arrogance or complacency can kill us.

14. If the voters pick Beauty and the McBeast then it's a wrap for
America, you might as well start looking for land in another country. I got my eyes on Brazil myself.
