Why would McCain pick a woman?
When he knows the far right wing of his base, don't believe a woman should be in charge of anything but the household. I mean he must know that this decision is only going to alienate him further from the base of his party which already didn't like him to begin with. I mean is McCain trying to lose the election. Then to top it off he picks somebody who is currently facing an ethics investigation. Bizarre. You can only imagine quite a few right wing pundits are seething right now. Of course this is good new for Obama/Biden, right.

2. The same reason a racist would hire a black lawyer.
McCain is trying to say, "See, I'm not a sexist."

3. She is also not somebody you would say is a DC player
Hell I m willing to bet most conservatives if they were honst with themselve didn't even know who Sarah Palin was, before today. I think this could really hurt McCain for two reasons. One he didn't pick a DC conservative insider. A popular choice among his base. And two his far right wing sexist base wont like that he filled the ticket with a woman.

6. Trust me
There is still a large contingent of conservative that do not believe a woman should be at this level of politics. They will keep quiet till election day. But believe me there are still a great deal of sexist right wingers in this country. Some of the them were on blogs earlier in the night. There are even some people in my family that feel this way. I think this could be a risk.

8. Yep, yep a puppet
new package, same failed policies.

Way far right. The nutjob general population loves her, it's only the extreme theocrats that can't tolerate a woman. The rest care little what guise their puppets take.

I keep saying it, McCain is a SURGE on the same.

12. I don't even understand how they can make that claim.
This woman is against everything that Hillary stands for. Palin is one of the most anti-woman woman I have ever heard about.

Hillary Clinton worked her ass off for every vote she got. Having this lightweight make any claim to finishing what Hillary started is shameful.
