Is John McCain's Years In Captivity A "Get Out Of Jail Free Card"?

I respect John McCain's service to his country...I am certain his years in captivity were hellish...I have heard it said that because of his suffering he was somehow released from the moral covenants that bind all of us and without which life would be unbearable and that it was morally permissable for him to dump his physically challenged wife for a younger, beautiful woman with a ton of dough...I have also seen it as an excuse for him being one of the Keating Five..

I don't see how it's any different than what John Edwards did...Did having his first born son die in a tragic car accident give him a "get out of jail free card" too?
