Let's start putting pressure on the media now for VP debate question !
Governor Palin, as someone who believes strongly in creationism, are you prepared to say to the American people tonight that you believe the earth is less than 6,000 years old?

1. Havent they modified this?

The flat earthers modify their position each time they are proven to be fools.

Haven't they modified this one as well? If not, then I'd love to hear that question...trouble is...i dont know if the majority of the masses really get it anyway.

To suggest the earth is 6000 years old is folly. But some people (even non religious) that could make sense to them...I mean 6000 is LONG time.

When I explain to people (even smart, educated people it seems) that the earth is 4.6 billion years old, mammals are 70 to 90 million years old, dinosaurs went extinct 65 million years ago those numbers boggle their mind.

I love this stuff and have no fear of the religious quacks (as I find them dogmatic buffoons), but I just dont know how many converts we win by asking this question.

3. We may not win converts...but the question will force her
to defend or deny what many of the young people in this country are being force fed on a daily basis at home and at church. My guess is she'll deny it and the more dogmatic among her ranks may see that as an abandonment of the cause.....IMHO..the position of a believer in creationism should be defended or denied by anyone seeking public office, especially if they want it taught to our children.

6. 6,000 year old earth. And SHE wants to teach this in our schools????
A really wierd website: http://www.independencebaptist.org/6,000%20year%20old%20earth/6,000_year_old_earth.htm

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Young_Earth_creationism

Young Earth creationism (YEC) is the religious belief that Heaven, Earth, and life on Earth were created by a direct act of God dating between 6,000<1> and 10,000 years ago. Its adherents are those Christians and Jews<2> who believe that God created the Earth in six 24-hour days, taking the Hebrew text of Genesis as a literal account. Some adherents believe that existing evidence in the natural world today supports a strict interpretation of scriptural creation as historical fact. Those adherents believe that the scientific evidence supporting evolution, geological uniformitarianism, or other theories which are at odds with a literal interpretation of the Genesis creation account, is either flawed or misinterpreted.<3>

Many Young Earth creationists (YECs) are active in the development of creation science, an endeavor that holds that the events associated with supernatural creation can be evidenced and modelled through an interpretation of the scientific method. This has led to the establishment of a number of Young Earth Creation Science organizations such as the Institute for Creation Research and the Creation Research Society.

YECs claim that the lack of support for a Young Earth theory in professional science journals or among professional science organizations is due to discrimination and censorship.<4><5><6><7> However, the overwhelming scientific consensus is that YEC claims have no scientific basis. For example, a statement by 68 national and international science academies lists the following as evidence-based facts, established by numerous observations and independently derived experimental results from a multitude of scientific disciplines, without any contradiction from scientific evidence: that the Earth is approximately 4.5 billion years old and has shown continuing change; that life appeared on Earth at least 2.5 billion years ago, and has subsequently taken many forms, all of which continue to evolve; and that the genetic code of all organisms living today, including humans, clearly indicates their common primordial origin.<8>
