2. That explains why he didn't choose Joe Lieberman.

Yes, he infers quality in women with success in beauty contests.

20. It may explain why he didn't pick Romney
McCain doesn't want to stand too close to men who may seem more vigorous.

He's like Sam Malone was on Cheers. Bagging babes, but wouldn't want Sam running the nation either.

4. I was saying this a lot yesterday
Plus, when you watch the video of his introduction of Palin, he is SO checking her ass while fiddling with his wedding ring.

Watch his eyes and hands:

5. Every woman in the USA with half a brain should be insulted
that John McCain is simply exploiting women AGAIN...in this case, Sarah Palin...for his own personal political gain. Even Palin herself should be insulted, only she's too naive to see why McCain picked her.

9. Only 14% of our government is women.
Edited on Sat Aug-30-08 08:37 AM by RichGirl
It's a long, hard achievement especially for republicans. They have many women in the senate and house who have worked hard for many years to establish themselves. I can't help but wonder how they feel? Why were they passed over for someone who was younger, prettier and inexperienced. That's something only the sleaziest of chauvanist pigs would do!!!

12. Kay Bailey Hutchinson has achieved far more on her own than Palin is likely ever to. I dislike
her politics but can absolutely respect her achievement and would have no reason to question her Veep qualifications.

Palin's selection is mind-boggling; just head-shakingly bad. This man has no wisdom or judgment. He's proven to be worse than Bush.

25. I agree - there are several Republican women far more qualified
than Palin...

Kay Hutchinson of Texas
Olympia Snowe & Susan Collins of Maine
Christie Whitman of NJ
Elizabeth Dole of NC
Jodi Rell, the governor of CT
Condi Rice
Heck, even the governor of Hawaii, Linda Lingle, has twice the governing experience as Palin!

I'm sure there are several Republican women in the House that have been around for at least a few terms as well.

10. He's sacrificed our nation's security for a nice piece of ass.
RedQueen pointed out yesterday that most women know what it's liketo be passed over for a younger, prettier "model," be it professionally or personally.

I'm considered pretty good-looking, but ti's happened to me in both capacities. This is a disturbing trend--and this "young lady" is a heartbeat away from diplomacy with Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc.

They will be puppets, just like Bush. The puppet masters unknown and evil.

17. I think that's below the belt - comparing choice of running mate to choice of wife isn't logical.
I don't think there's any evidence that Sarah Palin's looks were a factor (although I'd be surprised if that was true of either of his wives), and I think it's unfair, unwise and somewhat offensive to allege it without evidence.

19. So she was chosen for her experience?
WTF? "I don't think there's any evidence that Sarah Palin's looks were a factor"

Her gender was obviously a factor, but as there were far better female candidates, what the heck did she bring to the table other than her good looks?

26. Right-wing politics, relatively little baggage, youth and excitement value.
Also she's reputed to be good at debating. There may well be other reasons, but unfortunately John McCain and I haven't been on speaking terms since he accused me of letting my Leilandii overshadow his garden.

I have no problem with the accusation that she was chosen at least in part for her gender.

I don't think that it's legitimate to allege that she was chosen for her looks without at least some evidence to that effect.

28. Well, for starters, she's still under investigation in Alaska
for firing someone who refused to fire her sister's ex-husband. So there is some baggage there.

23. I disagree. It's not really looks, it's her style. She's the embodiment of the
dream republican woman; high maintenance, perfect hair, perfect (but too much) makeup), forced smile, etc.

We women know what it is about her style that disturbs us but it can't be adequately described.

But women like that ARE disturbung to "real" women. And we talk about it; oh yes indeed.

Keep in mind that what I'm describing is CHANGEABLE. style is fair game, looks are not.

...that McCain DIDN'T choose her...he wanted Leiberman. She was chosen for him. So he's not a sleazy old man...he a spineless, weak, disempowered old man!

27. I Fear You are Correct
The neo-conservatives are going down and the religious
Right will loose a lot of influence. Is this a last chance
attempt to get one of their own in power?
Given McAncients age, no one would question his sudden departure
from office / earth due to health concerns and we get a Rapture Ready
fundie with her finger on the button?

Of course the only way they could could win is to steal it via black box voting
but that could never happen in Amerika. :sarcasm:
