The opposition really must have feared this, and their announcement of a screwball VP choice was utterly effective in wiping the event off the radar.
Clearly, their timing couldn't have been worse for us and was brilliant.
I feel robbed for that, but am confident that there will be a few more great appearances by Obama and some ads using bit of his acceptance speech that will make the rounds.

It angers me that in our modern times, the 24 hour news cycle treats the mundane as special, and the special as not that special. This is truly a momentous occasion, and even for it, we get little real recognition and appreciation. Instead it's "he didn't do enough (fill in blank)."
