If the press had kept the buzz alive on that speech for a couple more days that probably would have been a double digit bounce for Obama. Instead they have managed to limit the impact of that speech. Of course one could argue that the VP he picked will be a disaster, but that does remain to be seen.

I think we should pick a good night and buy time to rebroadcast that speech in its entirety at a time when there could be no big follow up by the Republicans.

3. me either
because of that speech two people I work with who were undecided switched to obama. these are long time repugs. 40 million watched that and 39 million? understood and agreed with him. that is a silent/quiet/unseeable by rupugs... strong victory.

4. That speech was beamed around the world...
The WHOLE WORLD is STILL talking about it.

Do NOT succumb to the RW lunatic fringe's propaganda as espoused by the entire M$M that they own and control.

The point being that the Democratic Party has been asleep since the blowout election of 1964 and the right has taken advantage of this and spent 16 years rebuilding their party to reach the point of getting Reagan elected in 1980 despite the Watergate scandals, and setting the path for the next, near-30 years of solidifying their control. They did this by looking at the 1964 electoral map and proceeding to build their own 50-state strategy to reverse it.

The Dems are far behind and were forced to make up for lost time - getting phase I done in 2 years under Chairman Dean to regain the Congress and hopefully these last 2 years to retake the White House. If we succeed, we cannot ever be lazy again nor can we neglect the potential power of the states, NOR allow the media to shape our message - which means we need to secure our OWN media. It's only thanks to the left-leaning and independent internet media that we are where we are today.

6. Except that since the U.S. sold itself (its banks, corps.) to the world, then yeah, they DO vote. ;)

But I have to wonder whether what happened this week matters that much on Nov 4.

8. That speech was a KO, regardless of the MSM. 34 million watched it, and
another 300,000+ have watched it on YouTube. And you can bet that the best parts of that speech will turn up over and over again during the rest of the campaign.

12. I think that is why McCain went with such a shocking pick. he knew the KO was coming
the convention was building and Obama was ready. But 40 million people saw it and Obama has the high ground.

14. Nobody will EVER forget Obama's awesome acceptance speech!

McCain just gave us a little gravy to top it off with - his stupid VP pick. Come next week, we'll be comparing the two speeches.
No way in hell is McCain even in the same league as Obama. McCain may think that we'll forget Obama's speech, but he's got a wake-up call coming. All the news will then be comparing the two speeches. McCain loses big time. That's my prediction.

16. The other way to look at it is the media would be lying about him and our convention now
Edited on Sat Aug-30-08 06:48 PM by BeyondGeography
if it didn't have McCain's shiny, new VP thingy to play with. This way, Obama's great speech and our unifying convention get to play out in the minds of those who were paying attention unfiltered.

As for Gramps, it's short-term gain, long-term pain. She's going to screw up left and right out there, plus the media is already scouring her record for stinkbombs, of which several have already been identified.
