ADN: There was no true vetting
http://www.adn.com/news/politics/story/510249.html

Former House Speaker Gail Phillips, a Republican political leader who has clashed with Palin in the past, was shocked when she heard the news Friday morning with her husband, Walt.

"I said to Walt, 'This can't be happening, because his advance team didn't come to Alaska to check her out," Phillips said.

Phillips has been active in the Ted Stevens re-election steering committee and remains in close touch with Sen. Lisa Murkowski and other party leaders, and she said nobody had heard anything about McCain's people doing research on his prospective running mate.

"We're not a very big state. People I talk to would have heard something."

5. Let's put it this way - we ALL knew what was happening in Delaware
It's difficult to not know since we only have 200K more folks than Alaska.

BTW welcome to DU :hi:

And I'm pulling for Beglich - I think the repukes in AK handed that one to us by going with Stevens.

9. My thoughts EXACTLY! I think the rethuglican high command has already decided to roll over...
No amount of electoral fraud will enable the rethuglicans to steal this election. It is obvious to the ENTIRE WORLD that Obama and Biden are the men of the hour. KKKarl won't be able to rely on that MYSTERIOUS, MYTHICAL EVANGELICAL VOTING BLOCK to rationalize electoral fact being thrown out the window. NOBODY, and I do mean NOBODY is going to swallow that horse pucky this time. Not even the evangelicals. If there is a God, his/she/it is certainly no fan of cheney*/bush* and their thieving, murderous, antiChristian ways. And quite frankly, what rethuglican in their right mind actually wants the next four years in the White House? This country is so fucked up, Jesus Christ himself would have a hellavu time straightening things out. Nope, the only rethuglicans praying for a McCain/Palin win are cheney*/bush* and their minions because they need McCain's executive pardoning power. I think the rest of the GOP has already decided to kick cheney*/bush* to the curb and hope for the best.
