A Hillary Supporter Decides
A close friend's daughter is a Hillary supporter. When Hillary didn't win the Primaries and then wasn't chosen as VP she didn't know how she was going to vote. She isn't a PUMA but at that point her feelings were still raw.

Then McCain selected Palin. Yesterday, my friend got a call from her very ticked off daughter who said she was insulted by McCain's choice. She read his selection as a pandering to women who supported Hillary. That women are so stupid to believe that one woman is the same as another.

His choice clinched her choice - she'll be voting for Obama and can hardly wait for election day to cast that vote.

1. That was my thought too,but thanks for the confirmation
This is a very insulting and cynical choice. I wrote this about it:

9. In fact, my friend called a local radio station this morning to relate what happened
I was listening via streaming audio since we live in different states. A few minutes later another woman called and affirmed that she felt the same way.

What's great about my friend's daughter is that she currently lives in a red state.

I agree with your assessment of McCain as having made a cynical choice. Today, I'm holding my breath over that. In my heart I believe that he'll have to fail. But I wonder if I'm underestimating how many fundies are out there. It has to be a greater number than I'm willing to admit if Rove McCain chose Palin.

3. Very similar to my experiences.
Palin was picked because of her looks and sex, not her intelligence, record or anything of any relevance. No true Hillary supporter could possibly find her appealing.

11. I think my friend's daughter would have come around in time
McCain's move made the choice clear, imo.

12. Sadly, on the other hand....

Former Clinton supporter Jerry Lynne Treinen, of Eugene, said she has been waffling between throwing her support behind the Democratic ticket and switching over to McCain.

“Both tickets are interesting because now they have both the old school and the possibility of change,” Treinen said. “I think it has a lot of potential for some of the Democratic voters, women and other constituencies, too. I’m just one voter. I had been seriously considering (voting for McCain), and this is very tempting.”

14. Repugs think they are so smart
they underestimate everyone else.

tell your pissed off friend's daughter, Hillary probably gets a pretty kick-ass spot in the cabinet. Sec. of State most likely, since it would open a big window for Bill to get involved which would be a huge help in rebuilding our old alliances. that's just my theory.

15. Older women
Edited on Sat Aug-30-08 02:07 PM by HockeyMom
I am also 60. My husband is a Republican. He is constantly complaining about my Obama Mama tshirt. He said, "You are 60 years old. Why are you voting for that Obama." Huh?????? Because I am old, I must vote for an OLD COOT? I may be old, but I am not brain dead.

Anyway, we were in COSTCO and an old woman (had to be in her 70s) stopped me and asked where she could buy a shirt just like mine! You should have seen the look on my husband's face when he hear this woman say that! Yep, old folks must vote for McCain based on his age?????????????? lol Well, I suppose that is the McCain plan, along with women voting for his VP solely based on her gender.

I then went to the supermarket, still in the same tshirt. After my groceries were rung up, the clerk asked me if I could wait a minute wHILE he brought over another employee. She flipped when she saw my shirt and called over two more workers. Again, they wanted to know where to buy it!!!!!!! Yes, they were all young people.
One of the young clerks told me was calling ALL her friends on the phone telling them to vote "for this guy Obama." She told me she even offered to drive them to the polls herself.

So, lets see. All this happened in one day. Young women, old women. I guess age and gender doesn't matter in this election.

And this was in FLORIDA.

21. My DAUGHTER played ice hockey
She started out playing on boys teams about 12 years ago. She played D3 college hockey and even on an adult team after she graduated college.

The nick is old. I just never bothered changing it. At any rate, I still like it and to a certain extent, it still applies.:) Besides I doubt a Palin supporter, would be encouraging young girls to play ice hockey with boys.

K&R

Palin is the antithesis of Hillary Clinton, for Sarah to even invoke her name in the same sentence is sacrilige.
