Do NOT get complacent
McCain's pick of Palin as his VP running-mate is abysmal and idiotic on so many levels. But as much as we like to think it is, the race is far from over. And now the stakes are just that much higher because of McCain's reckless and arrogant choice of someone with absolutely no qualifications to hold the second highest office. It is indicative of his poor judgment. It is indicative of his hubris. It is indicative of how much of a unnecessary risk it would be to elect him to office. As much as I would like to believe that his selection of Palin will doom his candidacy by the sheer weight of its own ineptitude, we can't afford to leave the future of our government and our nation to the chance that this may or may not happen.
We MUST do all we can to ensure Barack Obama and Joe Biden win in November: DONATE. VOLUNTEER. ADVOCATE.

We're all busy individuals. But surely we can all spare a few hours to go door-to-door, stuff envelopes, do data-entry, and do voter registration. I'm sure there are already a lot of volunteers on this board, and I am preaching to the choir, but for those that haven't volunteered yet, I strongly encourage you to do it. You meet great people and you're helping Barack and Joe at the same time.

Especially my fellow college students. Organize voter registration drives for your dorm. Harass all your friends with a righteous fury to get registered to vote.

It is just too important this time around to not do our part...

3. A pundit was saying that every twenty years the Repubs throw a shocker
VP pice into the mix -- and we Dems laugh at them, but it didn't hurt Nixon/Agnew, or Bush/Quale.

Absolutely right -- we can't become complacent.

WE think this is insane, but the Repubs may like what they see.

4. This pick should get us SCARED and motivated, not complacent
Remember 2000? When we all laughed at RatBastard and
thought "there's no WAY he can beat Al Gore -- the
economy is great and the world is at peace!"

We should look at this pick and be SCARED that this is
the team we may be stuck with for the next 4 years.

DO YOU WANT THAT? DO WE WANT THAT? Do we want to
slink back angrily into our caves to fume for 4 fucking
years, claiming the election was stolen and the public
was duped? Wouldn't we ALL rather have more moments
like Thursday night, with PRESIDENT OBAMA speaking
for us and leading us into the future?

IF WE WANT THAT, WE HAVE GOT TO FIGHT FOR IT!!!

5. Exactly my sentiments.
Heh, and even when Bush won, I don't think many predicted how bad his administration would be...
We just can't take the chance. We do have to fight for it.

7. This is precisely what will serve as the plausible explanation for another stolen election
the "fundies turned out in droves".

8. She's no less likely a candidate than George W. was...
I remember thinking that the whole idea of GWB becoming president was a total joke. Turned out to be a joke with an extremely unfunny punch line.

12. They elected and re-elected the chimp.
Neither election was legit, but that is all moot now. The fact remains that they kept them so close they could steal them with a fool for a candidate.

11. The republicans care so little for this country they don't care who they nominate.
As long as they ain't too smart. The neocon/fascists that run the party want someone they can run.
