3. That's not why
He's thinking of cancelling because of low attendance,no enthuisiam and time to coach his unprepared running mate.

9. Yep. What a great excuse not to hold an embarrassing convention!
Frankly, I'd be very happy to be spared the news from the convention. I'm not watching convention coverage but since I will be watching the news from time to time I would be spared all the MSM talking heads and nonstop video loop of McCain being carried out of 'Nam on a stretcher.

8. THIS IS THE BEST PART!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ABC News' Karen Travers reports: In an interview with Fox News' Chris Wallace that will air Sunday morning, Sen. John McCain indicated that the GOP convention could be suspended because of Hurricane Gustav.

"It wouldn't be appropriate to have a festive occasion while a near tragedy or a terrible challenge is presented in the form of a natural disaster," McCain told Wallace.

6. That won't be too much of a problem. I'm sure most RNC delegates can afford the extra tickets
But if he has to move the convention to another venue for this, they just lost their long shot at winning Minnesota. Hotel & restaurant owners will be pissed off.

13. On CNN earlier (for what it's worth)..
a reporter said that 'someone inside the campaign' had told her that they were considering turning it into a 'service' event aka a telethon. What was Palin's pageant talent act?

17. No need for Bush to cancel his appearance
at the convention. He can eat cake and play guitar...

then turn up in the disaster zone nearly a week later, just like he did last time.

22. If they cancel, it will be due to lack of interest.
But they can blame Gustav. We all know Republicans don't give a shit about New Orleaneans in harms way of a Hurricane!
