Biden to return to Scranton roots Monday

Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden of Delaware will be returning to his Pennsylvania roots Monday when he returns to his native Scranton.

The visit to the coal region city where Biden lived until age 10 was announced today by the Obama-Biden campaign.

It also released a new TV ad for Northeast Pennsylvania featuring Biden talking about his Pennsylvania upbringing. In the 30-spot, titled “Scranton”, Biden talks about growing up in Scranton and the lessons he learned in the Green Ridge neighborhood, where he was born.

“Scranton’s a place that never leaves you. It becomes part of your heart,” Biden says in the ad. “(Democratic presidential candidate) Barack Obama learned the same lesson while being raised by a single mom and his grandparents.”

Earlier in the day Monday, Biden will march in the Pittsburgh Labor Day Parade.

Obama and Biden also are scheduled to appear on CBS News’ “60 Minutes” Sunday evening.
