GOP to have its share of stars, too (check out THIS list)

http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/08/29/entertainment.conventions/index.html

The Democrats turned out the star power for its convention in Denver, Colorado, right up to the final night, when the 80,000-strong crowd attending Sen. Barack Obama's closing speech at Invesco Field was serenaded by Sheryl Crow and Stevie Wonder, among others.

The Republican National Convention, which begins Monday in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota, may not have the same oomph, but it won't lack for well-known visitors.

The group is sponsoring a Charlie Daniels Band concert on Wednesday. The Black Eyed Peas played the group's Denver show. Retail chain Target is co-sponsor of both shows.

Also in Minneapolis: a show titled "The Songwriters Circle: The Songs We Love," which will feature performances by Brett James (who wrote "Jesus, Take the Wheel") and Greg Laswell ("What a Day"), according to RollingStone.com. The show is sponsored by the ONE campaign -- which supports the fight against AIDS and global poverty -- and the Recording Industry Association of America.

Among other celebrities expected to be present are the Beach Boys -- who will be headlining a concert of their own Monday -- Gretchen Wilson and Sammy Hagar. However, one of the GOP's biggest celebrity names, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, may not make the trip. Schwarzenegger has said that state business may keep him in Sacramento.

:wow: I hope they can take advantage of such STAR POWER to light the night sky!!!

2. The rumor here in the great state of is that the Gropenfuher is staying home.
Dean Caine is also a McCain guy, and he said this on Larry King the other night, i found it funny--"I'm a patriot, i love this country, i spend the summer in Europe" not kidding.

Hopper bought tickets to all the big events in NYC in 2004 got a bank of rooms and then about 2 days before the convention was directly told STAY AWAY

7. They're been evil for years and years ...
Remember when that freakshow James Watt protested them playing on the National Mall (damn rock 'n' rollers!) and even friggn' REAGAN defended them?

12. I think it is just Mike Love now and supporting musicians
they had a nasty fight over the name a few years ago. Not sure who owns the song rights at this point. Looks like it is only Bruce Johnson and Mike Love at this point

Well there website is vastly improved since the last time I saw it (it was really bad a few years ago)
http://www.thebeachboys.com/home.aspx

Extensive legal battles between members of the group have also played their part. After Carl Wilson's death, founding member Al Jardine was ousted by Mike Love. As of 2008, The Beach Boys continue to tour, with a lineup of Mike Love, Bruce Johnston and a backing band of new musicians.<4>

I think having Ted shoot a flaming arrow through a tire is just what McCain needs.

10. I assume "the Beach Boys" attending won't include Brian Wilson.
And Dennis Wilson, of course, is dead. So is Carl. So the Beach Boys at their convention, they're not the real Beach Boys...

15. Nope. Van Halen is pissed.
Sammy Hagar may have rights to the song, but not of Van Halen's performance of the song.

I'd imagine that McCain is gonna have another few names added to that lawsuit.
