What kind of woman volunteers for a job that, guaranteed, will consume her every waking minute for
the next four years - when she has a baby who's only 4 months old?

I'll tell you what kind of woman: one who puts ambition above responsibility.
Or one who feels that the special-needs child is not her responsibility to deal with.

Either way - it ain't good.

5. Read his post..."a job that will consume her every waking minute" what other job would require a
working mom's every waking minute? It's a valid point.

be very hard to take care a special needs baby and be the vice president of the U.S....that is a big job...

12. Not a bad thing
I believe the OP's point was that it takes a _lot_ to deal with any infant. And a special needs infant, well...

Do you have kids? So then you probably remember how It takes everything you've got to be able to deal if they didn't sleep well the night before. My guess is the OP is probably wondering why is this sleep-deprived woman is signing up for this (and taking her family along for the ride.)

14. I was a working mother ( 2 children), and of course I did not say that working mothers with babies
are a bad thing. That's ridiculous.

I cannot think of any other jobs that would be analagous to being President or VP of the United States
or that would require anyone to be more "on call" for a period of 4 years, at least.

And, yes, I think that if you take on the responsibility of having a child, then part and parcel of that decision
should be the duty to spend as much time as possible with that child. (Key words: "as possible.")

But, hey, this is just my personal belief. Sarah Palin already had a job that she claimed to love, and 4 other kids besides
this new little baby. What would it have taken for her to tell McCain, "I'd love to, but the timing isn't right for me?"

23. working 9-5 is one thing, being VP is 24/7
Working 9-5 is great and a mother have every right to get a break from the kids as fathers do

but being VEEP is a 24/7 job with little to no time for kids

26. This is NOT what the OP is saying.
VP is 24/7/356

Gone for weeks at a time, gone nights.....

Working as a busy attorney or a doctor (after residency) is not even in the same league.

If the hubby is capable of taking care of the kids, alright, but I understand he likes to sit in on her meetings.

There are issues of attachment that occur during infancy, lose that window of opportunity and you can have a Ted Bundy before it's over.

10. This is a silly argument
presumably she has worked out a living schedule where she gets sufficient help from her husband and other kids to balance her family and work demands. I am just fine with that. I just don't think she's comeptent to do the job in the first place.

16. The crux of the "argument" is judgment. "Country First" should be "Ambition First" for the Repukes.
McInsane dumped his first wife for a younger, more attractive model to further his political ambitions. In a move of desperation (IMO), he selects a trophy VP, thinking HRC supporters and other women will vote for the Repuke ticket.

BTW, there is a YouTube video of McCain who 4 years ago is talking about running for the Presidency--that it has nothing to do with patriotism - it's ambition. In his own words.

Palin is getting up in front of the camera and lying her ass off. If you have done any research on the 'net, you will discover that her "election" as governor of Alaska was a vote AGAINST the incumbent. Further, she promised the people the "bridge to nowhere" until Congress cut off the funding. THEN is when she changed her tune. She is as big a liar as John McCain. There is another thread on here from a native Alaskan who tells what a liar she is, and that she most likely fabricated the story about her water breaking in Texas and then hopping on a jet to fly 10 hours back to Alaska. She fabricates and stretches the truth to try to build herself up, according to the poster.

Search newspapers online in Alaska - read some of the blogs, the editorials. She's not the grand person the Repukes would have you believe she is.

So, the question "what kind of woman with a 4 mo.old baby would volunteer for a job that requires every waking moment" is very relevant.

There's nothing wrong with a working mom having ambition - it's a judgment call about where to draw the line.

33. Not relevant.
I don't disagree about many of the things you point out, but few of them have anything to do with my narrow point that having a 4 month old kid is not in itself a disqualification. In short, just because I disagree with the OP on this one issue doesn't mean I approve of Sarah Palin, and posting a shotgun reply with 10 different points is a waste of both your time and mine.

So he'd likely be co-VP and when (not if) McCain dies in office, co-president, leaving her with plenty of time to raise her daughter's baby. (Couldn't resist. :hide: )
