23. Maybe the same thing that happened to me --
I went from "expanding my consciousness" to just getting stoned. And becoming an asshole.

Plus, I've always heard he was kind of a jerk. Even the Maharishi and a special mantra can't work miracles. :) :hi:

42. Love was even an asshole in the old days.
Brother Dennis loved to fuck with him - even married his daughter to get under his skin.

Brian, thankfully, is far away from the Mike Love/Al Jardine Beach Boys. 'Kokomo' is about as lame as you can get.

44. Charlie a Repuke
After 2004 I got in an online discussion with Daniels. He was then and obviously still is a Repuke. We had several back and forths about Bush with him very supportive of Bush. Daniels was a supporter of the war from the beginning. We ended up with agreeing to disagree. He is definitely a Repuke.

I'll never forget that Rolling Stone photo of him standing in his gorgeous backyard with the stormclouds in the background. The embodyment of a good man in serious depession.

I smiled like nothing else when he came out with SMiLE! As cheesy as it is, for him to feel joy again brings me joy.

Miss America lyrics

You were the apple of the public's eye
As you cut the ribbon at the local mall
A mirage for both you and us
How can it be real?
We loved your body in that photograph
Your home state sure must be proud
The queen of the United States
Have you lost your crown?
Chorus: Well aren't you, Miss America
Don't you, Miss America
Won't you, Miss America our love?
Are you really who we think you are
Or does your smile seem to wear your down
Is the girl who you once were
Screaming to jump out?
Is the dream that you must live
A disease for which there is no cure
This rollercoaster ride you're on
Won't stop to let you off
Chorus: Well aren't you, Miss America
Don't you, Miss America
Won't you, Miss America our love?
Well it's true just take a look
The cover sometimes makes the book
And the judges did they ever ask
To read between your lines?
In your cage at the human zoo
They all stop to look at you
Next year what will you do
When you have been forgotten?
Chorus: Well aren't you, Miss America
Don't you, Miss America
Won't you, Miss America our love?

Sarah Palin Makes History: Gun-Toting Miss Alaska 1984 Runner Up Gets VP Nod
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By Michael Amsterdam
Aug 30, 2008

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has made history and the former Miss Alaska 1984 beauty pageant contestant is the very first Republican woman to be nominated as a Vice Presidential candidate. She is a gun-toting "hocky mom" and mother of five and certainly looks as if she is going to be an asset for the MCcain campaign.

47. Seems appropriate, a band named after the river of death.
The Repubs choose a band named after the river of death in Greek legend that circled Hades 9 times. Maybe they'll play the "Great White Hope".

Look at me
I'm the great white hope
Can't you see
I'm up against the ropes
Don't you know
It's so hard to cope
When you feel
Like the great white hope

18. To much time on my hands: PERFECT
Too Much Time On My Hands
Written by Tommy Shaw
Lead Vocals by Tommy Shaw

Sitting on this barstool talking like a damn fool
Got the twelve o'clock news blues
And I've given up hope on the afternoon soaps
And a bottle of cold brew
Is it any wonder I'm not crazy? Is it any wonder I'm sane at all
Well I'm so tired of losing- I got nothing to do and all day to do it
I go out cruisin' but I've no place to go and all night to get there
Is it any wonder I'm not a criminal?
Is it any wonder I'm not in jail?
Is it any wonder I've got

Too much time on my hands, it's ticking away with my sanity
I've got too much time on my hands, it's hard to believe such a calamity
I've got too much time on my hands and it's ticking away from me
Too much time on my hands, too much time on my hands
Too much time on my hands

Well, I'm a jet fuel genius - I can solve the world's problems
Without even trying
I have dozens of friends and the fun never ends
That is, as long as I'm buying
Is it any wonder I'm not the president
(He's not the president)
Is it any wonder I'm null and void?
Is it any wonder I've got

Too much time on my hands, it's ticking away at my sanity
I've got too much time on my hands, it's hard to believe such a calamity
I've got too much time on my hands and it's ticking away from me
Too much time on my hands, too much time on my hands
Too much time on my hands

25. The long, sad decline of Charlie Daniels
He was once a proud Carter supporter (even in 1980, when most people turned their backs on him). But sometime since then, he lost the blood supply to his brain and went Full Ignorant. Seems to have begun back in the first Bush era, when the atrocious "Simple Man" came out (not to be confused with the great Skynyrd song of that name).

Daniels was a sideman for Bob Dylan on the "New Morning" album, and later went on to write tongue-in-cheek parodies of rednecks like "Uneasy Rider", took on moralizing TV preachers in "Long-Haired Country Boy", and on cuts like "Orange Blossom Special", he could tear up the fiddle. What a waste of talent, and a pathetic blob of spoo he has become.

Shut up and play your fiddle, Chuck.
