GAG ME! My female professor friend said two of her female friends, who are professors, like Palin
They told my friend that Palin was a reformer, and was a strong female who was - as one of them said, "much more feminine than Hillary", even though they supported Hillary.

I want to spew... seriously. My friend is a very intelligent, Christian, pro-women's rights, down to Earth type who is horrified of this Gov Palin's politics and was nauseated that the first two women she spoke to approved of this person to be a heart's beat away from running the country.

I told her that the other 2 professors are clearly closet racists -or- fundies. There's no way someone who supports Hillary's policies can support Palin - it's a personality issue for them - clearly. They see female, so they want to vote female - they're not smart enough to dissect issues, much like there are surely some Blacks who support Obama merely because he's Black, without knowing what he's for and assume he'd be good for them. I'm sure Kenneth J Blackwell, the orchestrator of B*sh's theft in Ohio in '04 as Secretary of State, got some of the Black votes in '06 when he ran for Governor, even though he was a hardcore GOP suckup.

We cannot combat the moron vote (even when the morons have degrees), so we have to inspire the people who normally don't vote to make sure they do!

1. The ability to get a position in academia is not necessarily an indication of thoughtfulness
I had a macroeconomics prof who was a raging neocon and thought that endless war and fascism were Teh Awesum.

4. you just really hit on something there - I'm gonna tell her that
just because she's fertile doesn't make her 'more feminine' than Hillary. Hillary looks very pretty, I think. I don't like how she behaved in the primary, but what her professor friends said is ridiculous! She's clearly feminine looking and much more likable than Palin!!!

5. I admit it. I'm worried about the lesser information woman voter about this pick a little, but

as time goes on even the lower info voter will know at least the basic principles of what each of the candidates stand on.

8. what is not feminine about Hillary
she raised her daughter with fierce protection.
she campaigned for health care for our nation's children.
she works on children's issues- check our her resume- all over the world.
she's strong, yes. Is that not feminine?

This is exactly why I call SP Patriarchal Barbie. She appeals to those who secretly don't want a woman who is strong and might voice opinions in a way that isn't sweet. Gag me.

Hillary is feminine -- AND what does it matter? why does she have to be "pretty" or wear her hair a certain way or wear make up if she doesn't want to? My god....

as to the age thing -- what a great point. Ask them if they think they will be less feminine, or their moms are less feminine, due to age.

I guess we are nothing but animals? Watch out, Patriarchal Barbie might shoot us from a helicopter.

9. 'Feminine' usually means passive. Fuck that.
ER: My, how things haven't changed. If you're not a doormat, you're 'unfeminine'. Oh, dear. Well, fuck that.

15. I don't care whether she is feminine or not
thats BS, and I really don't give a rats ass.

What I do care about is that McCain will fuck every last one of us, and she reenforce the failures of the past 8(or 28) years

She is a liar(re stephens, bridge, for instance). She is a Cronyist(see her treatment of city emplyees as mayor, the dairy thing, the Brother in law issue) and completely untested (see running a state funded by record oil prices for less than 2 years, and not even doing that good a job of it)

What I do care about is fundie ties and potential security issues (see sending state emails to her husband), Oil selloutness, Disregard for the natural world(see bear hunting, mining, ANWAR), and being Anti choice, anti science.

Thats what I care about. And I feel sorry for anyone who is more concerned about whether she is she enough, or likeable enough. I have another country awaiting me with open arms, much as I would hate to leave the land of my birth. Do you?
