MSNBC reporting RNC will send delegates to LA
Edited on Sun Aug-31-08 01:30 PM by tomnjoy
MSNBC just reported that they have been told that the RNC will send delegates from the convention to LA after Gustav makes landfall. WTF?? I realize that LA will need help and volunteers to deal with the horrible effects of the hurricane, but sending the delegates down there???? Somehow I don't think they are sending them to help with the physical cleanup or volunteering with the Red Cross. Call me cynical.

edited to correct my big mistake (RNC not DNC)

6. The DNC sent folks there after Katrina as well.
To work as volunteers.

I do think you are cynical. I think it's a great idea.

The DNC paid the salaries of those who wanted to volunteer. I have pictures somewhere. They were appreciated.

10. Okay, I guess I overracted
Sorry folks...guess I'm obviously overreacting. My first impression of the story was that they were not being sent as "volunteers" but that they were being sent to meet with leaders...more "photo op" than actual action. If they are volunteering, FANTASTIC!! I think I need to take a step back for a while...too much exposure to politics lately is making me VERY cynical. :)
