All those worried about Obama's response to Gustav...
Edited on Sun Aug-31-08 03:30 PM by vaberella
First off Obama is mobilizing his list of volunteers and donators together. He will be sending out emails for help and any donations to help with the rebuilding.

This can be found here:

Secondly, a lot of people seem to be under the misconception that McCain/Palin are going to Louisiana, the hardest hit. No, that's not the case. Those two dear hearts are going to Mississippi, which is also being evacuated but will not be as hard hit as Louisiana, is said to be.

Mississippi:

The issues of hindering evacuation, rescue and relief as well as a least hard hitting area is later reiterated by Obama here:

For those who want a big more reassurance. I call your memory to the situation with the midwest flooding and what Obama was doing and where he was and what he said.

5. I don't think they really think that.
I was concerned, before the OP explained it to me in a different thread, that the media would see it that way.

4. Totally. Anybody "worried" about Obama's response to Gustav
is seriously not paying attention, and knows very little about the man.

11. Not paying attention
Or in some cases, trying to stir things up. I still think there are a lot of people here who are republicans trying to cause problems by "questioning" what Obama does, or doesn't do, and who just want to cause trouble, like in the primaries when republicans came here and pretended to be Hillary supporters, or Obama supporters so they could stir things up.

Obama and his camp know what they are doing.

12. Andy, I couldn't agree more with you. I can't believe how many posts I have seen
just in the past few hours about how Obama is or is about to blow it bigtime with his "response". It's awfully hard to believe a gen-u-ine DUer could know so little about this man and how he gets things done.
Troublemakers, eh?! Well, I'm just going to ignore these ignoramuses then!
Thanks!

6. The MSM will spin it
It'll be "has Obama done enough to help the victims" or "McCain looks so presidential, standing there next to that flooded out house. A real man of the people" and "how noble it is the Republicans suspend their convention while Obama continues to campaign".

Obama is staying away, as he should. But the MSM will crucify him for it.

10. Well no one should really be surprised at that. They are owned if full by
the very people who benefit from McCain's presidency, if he gets there.

7. You mean he isn't taking Biden down there for photo-op?
Where security resources would be used to protect Obama and Biden and not protecting the residence and helping them to evacuate?

But McStupid and his Bride-Zilla are there.

How many local and state police are being diverted to cover McStupid? How many police that should be assisting the evacuation effort and patrolling the streets of these deserted towns?

8. This could all fizzle out
A little while ago, MSNBC reported that a storm measuring plane only found winds a little in excess of 100 mph so the storm hasn't picked up speed. Storms lose punch as they approach land. The predictions are now for a category three that will hit a little west of New Orleans. Cable news storm coverage follows a pattern. Nine out of ten times they give the worst case scenario. The storm may well weaken.

McCain and the RNC are already backing off all the big talk about telethons and trips to the hurricane zone.

13. The CONS are playing it for all its worth to them...
and trying to set him up for a response to use in the campaign thinking we will all forget what happened last time but, no matter what they say I will always remember what they did and did not do during hurricane katrina...
