Don't forget Media Matters
Now that the presidential campaign is fully joined by both sides, it's not enough just to bitch and moan on this site. Now is the time to take a stroll over to Media Matters and throw a few flames with the MSM.

www.mediamatters.org

They will not do their jobs of vetting Palin, for example, unless we hold them accountable every time they lazily rely on Republican talking points.

And as Media Matters points out:

When contacting the media, please be polite and professional. Express your specific concerns regarding that particular news report or commentary, and be sure to indicate exactly what you would like the media outlet to do differently in the future.

As my mother likes to say, "You get more flies with honey than vinegar."

Also, I like to do some cutting and pasting from the MM articles, but I change it up a little so that they don't get the exact same worded email from 100 different people. And I add something to the end to reiterate how I expect them to do their job better the next time. But without being tacky, of course.

1. Okay, I know this isn't as sexy as "babygate"
but please K & R to keep this at the top.

3. This is the best thread in days.
Rather than everyone sitting here discussing alien babies and other Palin stuff,

we can actually be doing something productive.

A BIG K & R!

4. Thank you.
I was getting so frustrated not being able to do anything but read this wacky stuff. And then when all the so-called journos on the Sunday shows were gushing over Palin, I just kind of snapped. I've already sent some rather pithy notes to CBS and David Brooks.

I've written David Brooks before. I think he actually reads his mail.

6. I just sent an email to Fox about their trying to use Palin's son going to Iraq as a talking point
against Joe, never mentioning Beau Biden that is also going to Iraq.

7. I say we start a Media Matters group here at DU.
Do you want to start a thread about it and ask if people would be interested in joining that would be willing to devote a couple of hours a day getting the truth out?

I think Skinner requires 10 people to say they will join to start a new group.

We need to channel our energy on things that are going to make a difference.

11. Let's do it.
I gotta get off the computer for most of the day, I'll try and check in later.

Let's get it done :)

If you start a thread asking people if their interested, pm it to me, okay?
That way when I sign back on, I'll be sure to see it.
