Here's what Obama needs to say, if asked about Babygate |
|
"As a father of two beautiful young girls myself, I find it insulting to suggest that a devoted mother would lie to the public about something so meaningful as parenthood."
****
This way, *IF* the scandal actually turns out to have legitimacy (i.e. Governor Palin lied about her pregnancy, and the baby actually belongs to her daughter Bristol), then Obama will have gone on the record as taking the high road -- and he can't be accused of making an indefensible charge against Sarah Palin (which would enable her to play the victim, in the event that the scandal is based on a falsehood).
Same goes for Biden.
In the meantime, Obama and Biden need to keep hitting Palin on the ISSUES themselves...that she is a non-starter on energy policy and is too socially-conservative (and out of the mainstream) on reproductive rights, religious freedom, education funding, health care, and LGBT equality.

the obama campaign nor any of it's surrogates should touch this...let the bloggers and the media sort it out.

2. "I don't get into tabloid politics" |

That's what he should lump it all as, from the birth certificate to the Muslim smears to babygate. It doesn't matter whether it's true or not, the candidate can't touch that stuff.

And I think that Obama and his camp do also. There are just some levels that republicans may sink to, but we shouldn't, this is one of them.

5. Nope. He shouldn't even say that much. Sandnsea's response is perfect. |

8. Obama needn't even touch it. |
|
If any of it is true, I expect the National Enquirer to pick it up soon enough.

9. I think that would be perceived as a naive remark - |

mothers lie - especially to protect their children

10. That's exactly what I'd expect him to say. |
|
And, as usual, I'd agree with him.
Now, I'm not saying that I always agree with him 100% of the time... but I agree with him more than any other candidate that would actually be able to win the presidency.

13. I predict very confidently that Obama will refuse to say anything about babygate. |
|
He won't even dignify such a question with an answer. There is a huge, huge potential backlash for pushing babygate that I cannot understand why more people do not see.

15. Babygate is great - as long as we don't go near it |
|
let the Nat'l Enquirer get credit for the find - that way it gets out there, but we don't get our hands dirty.

18. That is absolutely correct. Babygate, if it turns out to be true, |
|
should have no Democratic fingerprints on it.

17. Medical Records - I would suggest he ask the media |
|
why we haven't seen ALL of mcCain's medical records and of course we should see Sarah Palin's although she is younger and doesn't have a history of recurrent melanoma.
He should say to the media - if you have any question about her pregnancy, you should ask her to release all of her medical records.

19. I hadn't thought of that one! |
|
That's actually PERFECT...especially if he takes sandnsea's suggestion and adds, at the end: "I personally don't buy into that brand of tabloid politics."
With an emphasis (to the media) on the "If YOU have any question about her pregnancy..."
