A panicked John W McCain picks an obviously unqualified potential VP who has LOADS of unchecked baggage (please forgive pun), 50,000 anti-war protesters converging on the twin cities, Hurricane Gustav stealing away their so called thunder damn near the 3rd anniversary of their biggest failure KATRINA, Ron Paul's counter-convention across the river.
while we are united and have a strong charismatic candidate and solid VP pick.
GOP/2008 = 1968

4. Palin is what's holding them together...i think she won't last long. |

the "realists" have one foot out the door and into the obama camp...the Wall St people are less and less threatened by obama as he is from chicago and they just love milton friedman etc...moderate "Eisenhower" repubs are leaving this rat infested ship...
neo-cons and southern social conservatives are about what they are down too...not enough to win an election IMHO

3. I believe the GOP won in 1968. |
|
Nixon won in 1968.
Perhaps you mean 1964 when LBJ and HHH beat Goldwater?

6. 1968 refers to the violent demonstrations and police riots at the dem convention |
|
The dems lost, therefore GOP 2008 = 1968 means that the GOP will lose.

7. This analogy doesn't hold up. |
|
In 1968, Humphrey picked Muskie (a safe, qualified choice) as his running mate. It was Nixon, who won the election and whose convention went off smoothly, who picked Agnew (a reckless, unqualified choice).
Also, Eagleton was picked by McGovern in 1972, not 1968.
