1. I heard that Dean for Minnesota sent a couple busloads from Minneapolis
I am not joking either

Anyway, as a former Fargo resident, it doesn't take much to get people from ND out in -10 degree weather.

-40, maybe. But -10 is just a chilly winter day.

5. why?
Edited on Tue Jan-06-04 12:36 AM by dobak
It is an old political trick to bus your supporters from event to event to make it look like a big deal.

All 9 candidates do it, yet we keep falling for it.

---

On Saturday, Clark is giving the keynote speech at the ND D-NPL Party (Democratic-Non Partisan League) Jefferson-Jackson dinner in Bismarck.

I bet the MN for Clark people send a bunch up there to help out also.

9. rumors?
What do you really think I can post on here that could prove it?

My Dean supporting friend who said he heard that a bunch of Dean supporters from Minneapolis were arranging bus trips?

<sarcasm on>

If I can find that mp3 I happened to make of our passing conversation, I'll post it here

<sarcasm off>

-----

Stuff like that had been happening since politics began. It is not rumors.

I know my fellow Clark supporters in MN are planning on arranging to get supporters to Bismarck for the Clark event on the 10th.

12. A Florida poster described a Dean even in the pan handle...
...here at DU. He said he was a long-time Democrat and didn't recognize any local faces in the audience. He went out to the parking lot and, sure enough, most of the cars had out of state or out of county plates.

Obviously, no way to prove it's true, unless you go yourself to a Dean event and look around.

Hell, even your sig line proves it.

All the candidates send supporters all over the place.

16. Yes, but to be clear: they send supporters to make calls and knock on...
Edited on Tue Jan-06-04 01:02 AM by AP
...doors.

They don't send them to pad audience numbers to make it look like there is support in the community which doesn't really exist.

They don't do that because, even if the media is fooled, it could offend the real locals, as it apparently did to the florida poster who noticed it was happening in the panhandle.

17. I grew up in Bismarck....
I am hoping to attend the event on Saturday.

It would be nice to see the future President speaking in my childhood hometown.

19. here is some proof...
http://www.startribune.com/stories/587/4302774.html

The crowd ate it up. Among them was Ellen Meyer, a volunteer who had driven from Minneapolis. "We love Dean," she said. "He's a straight talker. There's a pulse here, an energy. It's time for Bush to be gone. Removed. Absent. Get the picture?"

10. Really> Cause I heard Clark's campaign manager won't let him speak in
public anymore. Clark is only allowed to speak on scripted TV appearances. Apparently he really sucks live.

Everyone needs to just relax a bit and realize that this is how politics is played.

If you don't like it, try knitting.

8. spreading unsubstantiated rumors
Everyone needs to just relax a bit and realize that this is how politics is played.

spreading rumors, at least that's the way the Clark campaign plays politics. he may have gotten a little short term advantage out of it, but in the end it'll bite him.
