relatively speaking, as it appears to be, what is the excuse for Bush not speaking later in the week? I have seen that they are sending rescue workers home, which is great. Yet the Republicans still use it as an excuse/prop. Won't the American people see this as opportunism at its worst?

According to NOAA estimates. I said relatively speaking. I'm not suggesting that those affected don't need help or anything like that. Still, it's a relatively small event at this point.

5. The Wonderful thing is that it is a "DUD" The sad thing is: |
|
As a Floridian we have learned that that the "Forecasters" don't always get it right. We tend to hunker down after a "Dud" storm. It's a natural response!
Can you imagine? You left N.O. and spent many hours and much money for 8 hours of no power? Again, I think it's so wonderful that that was the senerio but: Next time? They will become more cynical.
Geeze, Can you imagine watching a garbage can blowing down the streets of N.O. on a T.V. and being in a shelter?
I know, I know. Better safe than sorry. But this is a human nature reaction. Living in Florida I have seen this play out!

8. I am talking about the Republican Party, not the people |
|
As a former Louisiana resident I know all about better safe than sorry. The response/evacuations were totally appropriate. But at a certain point the reality is that there is nothing left to do, yet the Republicans are still "altering their convention" in response to a disaster that didn't happen.

6. I'm getting to think this whole response was to prevent Bush and Cheney from speaking |
|
If you were having a convention would you want two guys with respectively 25% and 18% approval ratings to speak in prime time?
