Perhaps the book title will be: "Revenge or Insane: McCain's Unbridled Destruction of the GOP"
Two days ago I wrote:

of suspending all that he apparently is, and reflect on how he must have felt after being battered by Rove (and Rove's puppy dog George), I would then speculate that McCain knows what he is doing and that he made it spectacularly clear yesterday.

If the outcome on Nov 5 is not only a landslide victory for Obama/Biden but major gains for Dems, at the Federal, State, Regional and City levels, then McCain may have extracted his revenge and served the Republic, big time.

The fundamentalists will be set back by at least four decades as just one of many consequences, and the Republic will be on its way to repair and renaissance.

Thus, what I'm suggesting is definitely at least two standard deviations removed from the most likely - a desperately ambitious dude who knows he's going to get his butt kicked and will do anything to try to make it not so.

Too bad for McCain that he just motivated millions of women to ensure that they each get a shot at kicking his butt.

I had always hoped that after what Rove and Bush did to McCain, that he would emerge as a decent, experienced Republican in the spirit of Eisenhower. It was obvious by '04 that any chance of McCain honoring the memory of was close to, if not, zero.

My empathetic nature always prevails, though, even when it might appear ridiculous ... I'll always hope for the best in each person and that they experience their personal best during this all too brief life we have.

Well, 48 hours later and, increasingly as each moment passes, it is difficult for me to imagine any options other than that:

- Johnny is demonstrating significant dementia +/- a plethora of PTSD manifestations;

- or Johnny knows exactly what he is doing and he is sticking it to Rove, Georgie boy and Cheney (and the fundie, flat earth, dominionist wacko caucus) in ways they never imagined him capable;

- or some combination of the above.

No way would a strategic leader, committed to the sustainability of the GOP brand, do what McCain has done in the past 72 hours.

Simply, no way.

So, though it is far far into the 'long tail,' if Johnny isn't viciously, consciously driving the GOPer bus into the abyss, then he is completely out of control and has zero chance of recognizing that he is requesting voters grant him the opportunity to drive the Nation, and perhaps even humanity, into extinction.

Either way, my friends, do realize that he has absolutely nothing to fear.

He doesn't need a job, money, ....

He may not even be cognitively capable of reflection or ethically capable of caring.

On the other hand, unlikely as it is, maybe Johnny cares or maybe the "revenge" that he has had plenty of time to percolate, and plenty of reasons to deliver to the Rovian, neoconster, dominionist GOPers is his 'hidden agenda.'

Johnny, you may be on the verge of becoming the dude who saved the Republic by driving the corporatist, fundie, dominionist wacko bus into the abyss.

If so, give me a call when you're in Seattle and I'll buy you a latte (double tall, soy, vanilla) :)

Otherwise, RED ALERT AMERICA --- we need to be certain this dude and his secessionist Annie Oakley are crushed by the largest electoral margin in the history of the USA.

Peace,
Bob

1. "He may not even be cognitively capable of reflection or ethically capable of caring."
Let us all focus on the enormous threat that a revengeful McCain represents.

The proposed title of the book is very much the McCain dichotomy we now confront.

Peace,
Bob

2. K&R Stranger things have happened!
I think your reference to dementia is right on, and all else follows. You're the doc, but I'm the daughter of the dad who died after a long, long bout with Alzheimer's. Dad was jealous of relatives he had known for years (but knew no longer) when they came around my mother. He became so violent that he finally had to be hauled away by two sheriff's deputies until they got him stabilized and pacified again.

All the above is to point to the erratic behavior of those so afflicted, and the sadness of it all. So while it is somewhat satisfying to see McCain go down in flames, at one level, on another it is very sad and very scary to see a man lose his ability to function intellectually and socially. Nevertheless, I constantly ask myself: Is there not one "righteous man" in Republican Babylon who is willing to step up to the plate and either privately or publicly take McCain and the country out of its misery. It does seem that the more McCain acts out, the better our chances of seeing Obama in the Oval Office. But even a sliver of a chance that McCain and his Sarah might end up there is enough to make any thinking person frightened out of our minds.

Rhetorically, are the Republicans so depraved that they will let McCain into the White House just so they can win? Well, duh, yes, they are.

In my work, I am exposed to forums and e-mails from a lot of people in Alaska and other right wing hangouts. They are twisting themselves inside and out over how terrible it is that liberals are criticizing that poor working mother with a newborn, and how awful it is that they don't see the beauty in her daughter electing to give birth to her baby, rather than aborting it, and marrying the father (who is a redneck child himself, by his own admission)! And let's not connect the dots between Sarah's abstinence only stance on sex education and the fact that her own daughter is knocked up out of wedlock. No, no, we can't criticize a pillar of her community (population nothing) who only wants to serve her country.

There's something called the Quiverful Movement. Ever heard of it? The idea is that just as the archer has a quiver full of arrows, the devoted Christian woman has a womb full of babies, sequentially, that is. I know a woman through biz connections who has ten children, is pregnant again, and is taking care of several grandchildren born to her daughters while they were under 18.

Hear us, Mr. McCain, if you are capable of doing so: Women are not breeding stock!

Did you ever, in your wildest nightmares, imagine that we would be having the kind of national conversation we are having about electing the President of the United States of America? If Johnnie really *is* crazy like a fox, well more power to that son of an admiral!!!!!

3. Good evening friend,
Always enjoy your insightful comments. And, no, I never imagined America would find itself the bizzaro joke of the century.

Unfortunately, not only are many not laughing, many will never laugh again because of the vast consequences of the criminality of the neoconsters.

Hopefully, we emerge and begin on a different path.

Without doubt 5 Nov 2008 is the day many of us will be making decisions regarding the remainder of our respective lives.

Peace,
Bob
