The party of Lincoln nominating a secessionist makes me furious!! |
|
Last week, I visited the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield. I found myself tearing up in the room that's designed to look like his lying-in-state. He was a great man, who gave his life for the union.
Now I discover that the presidential candidate of the party Lincoln helped to create has chosen a VP nominee who belonged and seems to have close ties to a secessionist party.
I thought I hated Bush...but my disgust with McCain cannot be described using words. I don't know when I've been so angry.
One thing is for damn sure...if Lincoln were alive today, he WOULD NOT BE A REPUBLICAN!!!

1. That is really frustrating! It makes sense for someone from the land of Lincoln to right this wrong! |
|
It's just so sad that Lincoln's party is not his party anymore. It's full of the inheritors of the Confederate legacy and those who are for policies that will destroy this union as we know it.

You keep posting important things in the middle of the night. (I know -- I woke up and came here because I am getting sick, and I can't be sick. We just had an important open house, and our picnic is Sunday. There is no time for illness).
Anyway, I want other people to see this. Everyone should know this. This is an important point: a secessionist!

5. My sleep pattern has been off for a couple of weeks. Thanks for the kick! |
|
I'm gonna start taking melatonin tomorrow night. I need to live like a normal person.
Good luck with your picnic...and with not becoming ill.
But, yes, a secessionist. It makes me sick!!
Just when it seems they can't sink any lower....:grr:

4. Of course he wouldn't be a Republican... |
|
Kind of like fundamentalist nutjob William Jennings Bryan would not be a Democrat today. The parties have flip-flopped positions on some very large issues. And consequently, the "Solid South" has gone from blue to red, not coincidentally after the Civil Rights Act of 1964, signed by Democratic President LBJ.

6. Lincoln??? They're hardly holding up the bargain |
|
of being the party of Nixon and are starting to struggle to hold up even to the legacy of Dubya. McCain is incompetent and getting a bit loopy and Palin is a freaking loon, that is probably incompetent as well.
The Republicans MUST report to the wilderness. Perhaps, never has a major party been this clueless, evil, and out of touch.
