Sarah Palin is incredibly stupid |
|
Yes, I am going to continue hounding her because of her religious beliefs.
Anyone who believes in creationism is STUPID.
Anyone who believes the earth is 6000 years old is STUPID.
Anyone who practices "speaking in tongues" is STUPID.
Anyone who believes that teaching abstinence is better than sex education is STUPID.
Sorry, but anyone who is so willing to dismiss science and put their entire belief system in a superstitious religion is STUPID.

|
"If it was good enough for the founding fathers, it is good enough for me and I'll fight in defense of our Pledge of Allegiance." :wtf:
There is so much wrong, I can't pick just one, but that is really funny.

34. We did not have "under god" during my oath ceremony |
|
I was part of 1,700 people taking their oath ceremony in Phoenix last Thursday and I realized that the "under god" part was missing from the PoA.
I wonder if it was political (in such a liberal State) or just because some of us have weird religions with either no god, or a plethora of them.

7. Not disagreeing with the premise... but believing in God isn't "stupid" |
|
I believe there is a God. Barack Obama believes there is a God. Most of the founding fathers believed there was a God. Albert Einstein even believed there was a God.
Being "creationist" is one thing... doubting evolution is another. You can still believe that a higher being had a hand in creation as a matter of faith, and still fully acknowledge what science has proven in regards to evolution, the age of the planet, etc.
I just wanted to point that out because I felt like you were kind of not considering how many brilliant people are in fact "creationists".

11. The OP never said there was no such thing as God |
|
Creationism, as taught by many churches, is blatantly false doctrine. The Earth, for example, was not created in one fell swoop.
I would argue, however, that The Bible, or Genesis in particular, could have been a lovely, poetic story that was never intended to be taken literally. I think the taking of The Bible literally in ALL instances is where the rub is found. But it's rare to see religious (as opposed to spiritual) people take that leap.

Didn't say that her believing in a god was stupid, although personally I don't think it shows very good mental clarity.
However, belonging to an extremist religion that is more akin to a cult IS stupid.

People really need to study up on Dominionism and Theocracy. Google it. There's a butload of info.
These people are NOT going away, until they've infiltrated every school, every local and state public office, and as many congressional and POTUS slots they can. Their whole agenda is to change existing laws to correspond to Biblical Old Testament law, then convert the world to Christianity... their version... by force if necessary.
If that happens, America as you knew it will be over.

10. Who the fuck has been president for the last 2 terms? |
|
"Stupid" is one of the first qualifications for the GOP candidate.
A large segment of the population of the US agrees with her "religious" beliefs or with something even more ridiculous and dangerous. They will vote for her because they are as crazy as she is.
There is nothing anyone can do or say that can make these people change their minds - all we can do is get out more votes than they do, and we goddam well better do that or the president after McCain might just be Palin or worse. She is just the beginning.

|
Seriously, she practices speaking in tongues? This could be a deal killer to a lot of the moderate Christian congregations around the country - I know that it won't sit well in my area of Tennessee, where most people do attend church but they consider the tongues and serpent stuff to be whacko-extreme and against their belief systems (for right or wrong).

28. "Willfully ignorant" is perhaps a better term. |
|
"Stupid" is a good shorthand, though. :) I can't comment on her mental capacity - she may have a normal, average IQ - but she's certainly ignorant beyond belief. Presumably she had the same opportunity to educate herself that the rest of us did, but chose not to take advantage of it. That's bad enough in itself, but I'm even more concerned that she's vicious and evil. Evil with calculated premeditation, and a disregard for anyone else. And "evil" is not a word I throw around lightly.

29. Just because her belief system is moronic |
|
doesn't mean we can treat her like she is one.
She has shown herself to be a ruthless politician who managed to rise to the position of governor after only a two-term stint as Mayor of a small hamlet.
Just because she thinks the world is 6,000 years old and that nuclear Armageddon is super-nifty-cool because it'll bring about the 1,000 year reign of Jesus, that does not mean she doesn't know how to talk to other people who THINK EXACTLY LIKE SHE DOES.
Pay attention folks. The hard core right are creaming themselves over this choice. This is one of the most craven political acts I've seen in my lifetime. And I remember all too well Nixon. Hell, Nixon is in his grave going, "Fuck me, if only I'd thought of THAT."
She's attractive in that plastic, overly-made-up Republican way. She doesn't sound stupid. She's mediagenic.
In short, we would be fools not to look at her like the box that Bugs Bunny just left Elmer Fudd. Be cawful, be vewwy cawful.

37. Yes, that sure is stupid, but her lack of knowledge doesn't stop there. |
|
Edited on Wed Sep-03-08 03:14 AM by Rhiannon12866
She doesn't know who our founding fathers were, has no knowledge of our history or our Constitution, has a view of women's rights that belongs in the 19th century, thinks that Alaska should secede from the US, didn't realize that "under God" was added to the Pledge of Allegiance in 1954, and I'm sure that there's much more that I'm leaving out.:eyes:
But the statement that floored me was when she said that she has no idea what a vice president does. That's reassuring, on-the-job training. Perhaps her most unintelligent act was to accept a job without knowing what the duties even are... and then to admit it in front of the national media...:wow:
Even a kid getting his first job at a fast food place would be sure to find out about what he'd be expected to do before he applied...:dunce:
On edit: typo:blush:
