1. Simply reinstate the Fairness Doctrine...
They would be out of business.

24. You got it, r!
The entire cable-news spectrum will shrink dramatically if the Fairness Doctrine is reinstated. Not only will Faux disappear, but so will MSNBC and most of the CNN channels.

5. Shunning them
would only give them ammo to use against the Dems for a later offensive by the repubs. Using the tools at the Governments disposal kind of smacks of big brotherism imo. So I say, bring back the fairness doctrine, enforce it, and then if they can't comply, revoke their license. I suppose that may be using the tools at hand, but the fairness doctrine, if applied properly would work, not only for Faux, but for all other networks. Make it truly fair and balanced.

9. Multi-faceted approach....

Allow them to exist, but with every attention to law.

Never allow any tax-exempt 'ministers' to speak in support of any political person or body - limit them to issues only without innuendo and implication of a party (unless them own their own network, if lawful). Police it.

Do everything possible to support the network Gore is working on (someone on DU reported that they are interviewing).

Rejoice that there are so many anti-cabal people delving into the issues as well as the brain washing by the right wing. Rejoice that there are so many people with a network presence waking up and educating themselves.

Keep backing all the gutsy articulate spokepeople who are able and willing to counter the slime with genuine journalism.

Promote blogs and magazines that report with integrity, because they are breeding grounds for future network personalities and experts.

When the network arrives, persuade non-cabal spokespeople to blitz and maintain support to work towards a day when there isn't a need to appear on the propaganda shows, eventually leaving them in an inbred morass of their own lies, distortions, and ommissions. At the same time, invite propaganda artists to the new network and do everything in contradiction to the propaganda shows in support of journalistic integrity.

(They have worked toward their successful takeover of the media for decades - we were all sleeping).

Donate money to groom hosts and expert guests just as they have done for decades through tax-exempt christian foundations. Applaud those who've surprised us with their speaking ability and their handle on the issues.

Solicit converts among those who might still honor journalism. Do all possible to bring honor to the microphone.

Strive to fight against hypocrisy.

10. Engage them.
Treat them as if they were a legitimate news outlet. After all, if they are to survive they need access to White House sources, so they probably will start kissing up to whover lives there. If the administration tried to shut them down or interfere in any way, they will be behaving just like Bush*. We can't become what we despise.

23. Agreed.
And if Kerry or members of his cabinet DO go on FAUX and get trashed after they leave, it just makes FAUX look that much more idiotic.

I'd love to see FAUX hoisted on its own petard during the Kerry administration with no Michael Powell to bail it's sorry ass out of trouble.

11. Leave it alone.
Fo' news is already marginalized as the ridiculous propaganda feeding trough that it so unabashedly is. I love hearing the words 'Fair and Balanced'. It's an incantation that mocks itself.

Which I think translates to the people who watch Fo'. They know that they are already a mockery of the informed opinion they want to think of themselves as having, just by watching.

Think of it like keeping them all in the same place, where you know what you are dealing with.

18. Reinstate the Fairness Doctrine
This should be a poll question as it is too important to leave it to the "Other" category.

We do need to investigate the activities of some journalists and organizations like, William Kristol of the Weekly Standard.

22. launch a full investigation into misleading TV news journalism
Appoint a really great panel of investigators to compare the truth vs. what is reported in the corporate news media.

Publicize the hell out of the results.

Hold hearings.

Figure out a way to shame those who are guilty.

Make a BIG FUCKING DEAL out of it.
