"The most anticipated speech, even more than one that occurred in a football stadium!"
Um, Chucky T. Remember how the media had extremely HIGH expectations for Obama's speech, expectations that he on most accounts, met and even exceeded? I'm sure that the bar will be much lower for Palin.

11. Actually, I approve. Build it up to monumental expectations! |
|
The Repubs wanted it to play so that if she even showed up and didn't fall flat that it was the speech of the century! They set the bar so low that they called Fred Thompson's speech a grand slam. (That man is so boring, he seems to bore himself.)

higher still.
If this gets hyped high enough and enough people tune in, then when she finally speaks it had better be Obamaesque or else it's over for McCain. raise the hype, Raise the expectations. Raise the expectations, drown the pretender.

After all, doesn't she have an entire TEAM of people telling her what to say via the teleprompter?

13. I think it's that EVERYTHING is riding on this speech |
|
While Obama's was important, tonight's speech is a necessary home run just to stay in the game. If she doesn't deliver, it's over, and it's over big time.
If she does, McSame/Palin get a shot at the White House.
It's a serious rating grabber when expectations are so low, but the importance is so high.

They're probably driving around downtown St Paul with busses picking up the homeless. They'll just throw a cheap suit on them and funnel them up in the nosebleed seats in exchange for a free meal after it's over.

16. Rick Davis and the JSM III team had to rewrite the VP's speech from scratch. |
|
Not anticipating that McCain would choose a woman as his running mate, the speech that was prepared in advance was "very masculine," according to campaign manager Rick Davis, and "we had to start from scratch." http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/03/AR2008090301176.html
