As I recall the Vice President according to the Constitution, can declare the President UNFIT, and assume his Office. Being the FireBall that Failin' IS, I would not put it past her, nor assume that there would not be Plenty of Senators, Congressmen, etc, who if promised enough, might just take someone home that they didn't Bring to the Dance..

The New Dance Partner being the Queen of Alaska, funny that her Hubby is known as the "Shadow Govenor", guess he might want a piece of the pie as well..

Thoughts? Possibilities?

2. That's the way she rolls. She emasculates the men who aren't loyal to her.
McCain doesn't seem like he thinks of women as much more than objects.

3. Doesn't work that way. She would need the cabinet to go along with it, and McCain
could get himself back into office simply by writing a letter saying he was fine. At that point, Congress would have to vote--and I can't really imagine the Dems would want to stick the hyperradical Palin in the big chair.

Section 4. Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.
Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.

4. It requires a majority vote of the Cabinet
Although, I'm not sure how this would work since in the timeline you mentioned, McCain's full Cabinet wouldn't be in yet...I don't think.

5. If that's the case
Somebody should have declared George W. Bush unfit years ago.

6. Well, there is precedent. She turned on the guy who helped get
her elected mayor of Wasilla.

She's a real piece of work.
