3. Dunno. In all honesty it's not a big deal. A lot of guys don't wear a ring. |

Well I know my dad didn't. He didn't like the band around his fingers, it didn't fit right, he was a long shoreman and his hands were busted before marriage.
However, I'm sure it could lead to meaning other things. I'm more interested as of late in the extra marital thing in NE....although Obama said don't do it....I can't help but be curious.

I've been married for over twenty years.
Rings don't fit well on my fingers.
Doesn't mean anything.
However, this is one very odd family.

9. Um, is your spouse accepting the Vice Presidential nomination? |
|
Even if you didn't normally wear a wedding band, wouldn't you put one on for this kind of occasion? Especially if you were a Republican, where family values, and Christianity are supposedly big things for you?

6. My dad too, but he was a mechanic/long shoreman. It wasn't a good idea. |

This guy is a fisherman as well..so that could be it.

He's on the national stage and his wife is accepting the Vice Presidential nomination! This is a symbol, and an important one! Don't you think he'd wear one especially considering there are rumors she had an affair?

18. that's what my father did |
|
Took his ring off every morning before he went to work, put it on when he got home.
BTW, neither Mr. Retrograde nor I wear rings. I used to have a wedding ring, but I lost it (really). But then we also do a lot of radical things like not giving a damn who people marry or what they do in bed. I really don't want to know.

7. To be serious about it |
|
if he works a union position with BP, it maybe work related. My husband is a geoscientist and years ago, he had a position that required him to go out to the fields and monitor equipment and he wore neither a ring nor a watch, when he was in the field. If Palin works in the field on a regular basis, he may not be in the habit of wearing a ring. Then again..............
BTW, I lost my wedding band 40 years ago and never replaced it.

11. I understand the reasons for not wearing a ring |
|
But this is the Republican party, and they're running on family issues, and the Palins seem to have a lot of family issues! This is symbolic.

19. Republicans care about this crap. |
|
They do, really. I mean, I KNOW what you're saying, and normally, I'd be right there with you... It's the symbolism. Like, why was Sarah Palin wearing an Alaska pin instead of an American flag - especially since she's been linked to the AIP? These things aren't accidental.

15. Rings are dangerous for industrial workers (and fishermen); most don't wear 'em |
|

Then it becomes a cultural thing. In a lot of rust belt towns you'll seldom see a wedding ring on a man.

16. No big deal. I went about 12 years without wearing one. |
|
My wife and I did a little ceremony for our 26th and re-presented our rings. There was nothing at all behind my decision not to wear a ring other than that I had gotten fat and it was uncomfortable, and then got used to not wearing it even after I was no longer fat.
Go for the real meat. This is kinda like a flag lapel pin.
Oh wait...that's right...that's the kind of stuff these rightie idiots fall for!

Sarah Palin is, and she's ALL about family values and marriage, and is supposedly having an affair.
