Can Palin back up her tough talk?

I seriously doubt it. She's bluffing. She's in over her head. Obama is not a helpless wolf and Palin is not in an airplane with a rifle.

I think it is another hail mary pass by the McCain campaign. They've decided, ok, we have no good options, we can't withdraw her, there are too many drawbacks, so we have to push on with Palin.

But she's going to be under constant fire and we won't be able to get back on message, so we have to try to regain the upper hand so we're going to bank everything on Palin as an attack dog which -- cross our fingers and wish upon a star -- will unnerve the Obama campaign.

But one thing about Obama is that he's awfully hard to unnerve.

Remember who he beat in the primaries. That was no small feat. He beat Hillary, and then she hung around and Obama beat her again.

And oh, yeah, now he's got Hillary on his side.
