It's the Bush '88 campaign all over again.
They've decided to chunk any actual issue debates, since they can't win on those, in favor of vapid stuff like flag factories and the pledge of allegiance.

I expect McCain to come out with his own version of "Read my lips" tonight.

Obama is tougher than Dukakis, so maybe he'll be able to battle them effectively.

I hope.

6. And the economy sucks on the Republicans' watch, as it did in '92
To me, this is far more like '92 than '88.

7. and really, they're running the '92 GOP campaign
last night was their Patty Puke-cannon moment. I seem to recall the "base" were whoopin' it up after Patty laid into them libruls.

Didn't work out so well, though.

11. I agree - guilliani and Palin played the roles of Buchanan and Marilyn Quayle
who were every bit as as negative. Obama so far has run a better campaign that Clinton 1992 - but another thing in common is the country is for generic Democrat not generic Republican by a huge margin.

3. His VP has multiple scandals running wild in tabloids and blogs
and McCain is ignorant of both those worlds even though the voters aren't.

4. I hope voters have gotten less dumb since 88.
Because Bush just lied and lied and went on an on about inane bullshit, and the Democrats kept thinking "no one will fall for this shit." And guess what?

That attitude will be fatal this time. Just like in 88.

Thing is though...

...Dukakis was a well meaning, intelligent man but he was also a goofy piece of cardboard. He just didn't have the presentation or savvy that Obama does. And let's not forget that Bush was following on from a Reagan who wasn't at 30% approval.

5. Bush Was Running For Reagan's Third Term
McCane is running for Bush*'s third term...

Much tougher terrain...

But I am concerned...McCane and Falin are nakedly ambitious politicians who are unfit to lead this republic...

9. Reagan was not popular at the end, and everyone underestimated Bush.
Mainly they underestimated his capacity to shovel shit down the throat of America.

It was so bad that Lee Atwater asked for forgiveness on his deathbed.

They know they're losing.

They know they're in a corner.

They'll do anything.

We have to fight and fight hard.

10. I Believe Reagan's Popularity Was In The 50's...
That's much better than Bush*'s high twenties and thirties...

8. I think we should prepare for how truly ugly this campaign will be.
From groups on the other side bringing up the race issue and other stuff. With the McCain/Palin campaign denying they aren't responsible for them.
