Even if some of them laugh it off as mere entertainment, there's still a prevailing attitude of smug certainty amongst the flock. Fox News has only added gas to the fire.

when our leaders cower before them and agree rapidly after saying we did not and when instead of arrest we send harshly worded letters to the biggest national criminals we have ever had they sorta got the idea that they could push us around. We let them.

When it was discovered Repubs couldn't win on issues, they went personal and developed "faith-based hate." It became instinctive for them to hate anyone or any idea that didn't conform to their narrow views.
In short: Progressives think... Conservatives instinct...
