That was a rough inspirational speech, which is what it was. He is just not a strong speaker, he was not speaking to his audience, both in the room and through the TV cameras. His speechwriter wrote a rambling speech with no clear purpose. The audience reaction seems really really forced. He presented it the best way he could given his speaking style and lack of quality speaking material.
